My cable company picked up this station right before the baseball playoffs, which were broadcast in HD.

Other than those games, I have never seen one HD program on this channel.

Why do they have an HD channel if they have absolutely no HD programming?

Tyler Perry HD?

HD isn't a resolution, it's a protocol.

A lot of their programming isn't HD source, so they have the option of broadcasting with the bars down the side or doing some stretch algorithm. My gripe is that they don't let me use my TV's algorithms, giving me a choice of ways to deal with the formatting and aspect ratio issues.

Fox Network shows a lot of HD programming, but the cartoons (Simpsons) still is SD - they'd have to draw their art in two aspect ratios to support both, which is expensive.

As I said, it's a protocol. When they broadcast in HD, you get all the digital benefits of HD aside from resolution - better sound, truer colors, interactive capabilities, etc.

But yeah, I prefer the 1080p or 1080i kind of source more than what TBS does.

Duly noted.

However, it doesn't matter because no one wants to watch stretched out versions of low resolutiion shows.
