Why trade DeAngelo? I understand Trouba, Fox and DeAngelo play on the right and Lundkvist is coming. I understand this may sound stupid to most of you, but can't one of them be tried on the left? And if we do trade him, do we really anymore picks? We are trading again for the unknown. The talk is 1st and something. It should be 1st line center only, nothing else.

wait...are you really thinking the Rangers can get a 1st line center for DeAngelo?

Why don’t we try moving him to a wing? He’d be a lot more effective than Smith, that’s for sure.

My point is how many prospects or picks do we need. Enough! We let go Graves who is very good, and Pionk is playing well on Jets. I am not criticizing Pionk/Trouba trade, you do that trade every time, but my point is we have enough young talent within organization to move forward with the rebuild. What is the point to trade DeAngelo who is the top 10 defenseman in the league statistically for another pick? What are we hoping for? another DeAngelo 4 years from now? We have him now already. Trading DeAngelo for the unknown. So far both Anderson and Kravtsov are busts. Noah Dobson which was an easy pick was a way better pick than Kravtsov during that draft.

At this point, we need to fill in the gaps instead of developing young talent.

And yes Al, I think DeAngelo should bring in a 1st line center, at the very least Zibanejad level center, nothing less. I just don't want anymore picks. We are not Edmonton.

Part of the reason you trade DeAngelo is because as much of an offensive talent he is he is a liability on defense. He is undersized. His value will likely never be higher than this season and with presumed talent working their way thru the system he can be moved. You can never have too many picks as they can be used to either acquire more talent through trades or packaged with other picks to move up in the draft.

Like TDA but his defense on a good nite is average. He's tough. If the organization didnt' have Lundkvist I would surely keep him. Lundkvist is a can't miss, stud at this point. He's been dominant against men. His defense is flawless from all reports and his offensive skills are excellent. Kravtsov and Andersson have set the organization back badly at forward. Georgiev if they move him can help bring back a real good piece at forward for the future. I've been talking about Tuch and a pick for TDA for a while. Vegas needs a righty puck moving defenseman and a PP QB in the worst way. Fox looks like he will be unbelievable. He can QB our PP for years. He's also excellent defensively. You trade from strenght to fill a weakness. If you put Tuch with Panarin it would be scary. Fast is doing his job but he's not a first line forward. Our bottom 6 needs help.

I have no problem dealing Georgiev to the Flames if they take Smith for Bennett, Jankowski and a 1st or 2nd. Bennett and Jankowski were both real good role players but are having horrific years. I mean really bad. Bennett hits a ton and Jankowski can be a plus faceoff guy. We have to get tougher, deeper on offense. Bennett and Jankowski should rebound. To me they are Boyle types and you need those guys in the playoffs and to make the playoffs.

Because he hasn't produced jack shit offensively this year in either league. He's supposed to be getting better. Not worse. IMO, until I actually see him put up legit numbers, he's a bust.

Great job again by our number one d duo trouba and skjei. Not only suck on defense but can never get the puck out of the zone when you need it. Put lindgren and fox out there at the end. Please trade skjei. Can’t stand watching him anymore

Really awful, damaging loss there. Been saying all year about Trouba, and Buchnevich is just as bad with the weak clears. Dumb job by Strome on the line change but i could feel that they were going to blow that game.

My friend in all fairness I’ve been reading your posts since the ESPN days and you’ve been saying it about our top defenders since then as well haha, you have incredibly high and I’d say unrealistic expectations of defenseman.

That being said Skjei for the past two seasons has been on a steady decline and does not bring enough to the table to justify his shortcomings in his own zone. Hes not a bad player, but he’s ideally suited for a second pairing and is exposed playing on the first pair with Trouba. He needs to go.

This was a really tough loss, we need to get 2 pts on Tuesday.

Maybe i have been too hard on some in the past Prod but Trouba is not great in his own zone. All I'm saying. Buchnevich is a bigger issue right now.

They didn't lose this game because of Trouba or Skjei. They had countless chances to finish and they didn't. They missed the fn net all night. Didn't get shots through. Over passed the puck. Nothing new. Our dumbass coach continues to put Howden on the 3rd line and he blows. I don't see Howden ever becoming more than a 4th line player. I've said Buchnevich has sucked for over 2 years. I thought he finally figured it out to start the season but he didn't. He needs to go. Not Kreider. If that rumor was true and the Leafs offered Kapanen and Bracco for Georgiev. Gorton and JD would be out of their mind not to take it. This team is at least 2 forwards short. Maybe 3 to 4. Also, putting Fast on the top line is just dumb. He's not a top 2 line player. This is not a playoff team. He needs to be using Panarin and Zibanejad to develop the best, young, talented forwards we have. If you get Kapanen you can put him with Panarin and Strome. You can then put Bracco with Zibanejad and Kreider. Move Fast to a line with Chytil and Kakko. Then just get rid of that shithead Buchnevich. I don't know what else Gorton would want in a deal. I find it hard to believe he would pass that up.

This fan base always makes the defenseman the whipping boys around these parts. Been going on for years. While the forwards are always let off the hook. How about some of the other forwards not named Panarin and Zibanejad do something in games like these.

So here is the question with Kreider on one of his good runs before he disappears for a while. Seems like most want to keep him now. So simple question, are you good with a contract of 5 or 6 years with an AAV of 6 or 7 mill? That is what it will take to get him back here. Don't come back with 3 years 5 mill or some other deal that he will not take. Look at similar players around the league. He's a 25-28 goal/50-55 point guy. He'll want 5 or 6 years, and 6 or 7 mill per. Do you give it to him?

Staal is outta here next season. Either via buyout or trade. Same with shit Smith. Moving Skjei is risky unless you know that Hajek and Rykov can fill his and Staal's spot next season. Miller needs a least 1 AHL season. If they deal Skjei, because of his salary, it will be in the off-season when teams lose contracts and have more cap space. He has a stupid MTC that kicks in after next season. No thanks. Want nothing to do with that. Gorton needs to stop giving crap out like that. Trouba has no movement clauses the next 4 fn years. Though, since he's the only right handed defenseman with any size in the organization, he will be here a while.

My guess is Staal and Smith will be bought out. Buchnevich will be dealt. Unless he is blown away, Georgiev will still be here. They should trade Fast for an NHL ready, tough, smart role player prospect that won't be eligible for the expansion draft but they won't. Kreider should be signed. TDA probably will get a Skjei like contract. I assume they will at least keep him one more year while they see how Lundkvist adapts to NA hockey. They probably will buyout Hank which covers 2/3rds his salary.

Buyout Staal, Smith, Hank and deal idiot Buchnevich. Plenty of room to sign Kreider and perhaps a FA role player.

They already have over 6 mill of dead money next season. I don't see another buyout with 1 year left on deals (maybe one - and no shot they buy 3 guys). I think they'd try and deal with a mid-asset rather than a buyout. I also don't think the issue is affording Kreider now. I look out 2 or 3 years and say do I want Kreider on the books for 3 more years at 6.8 mill per. I do not. I stand by my opinion that I would deal him at the DL and not resign him. We are not making the playoffs this year, which to me makes that the right move even more so.

Skjei will probably just left exposed to Seattle in the expansion draft if he's not playing well either way. Smith i think ends up in Hartford and Staal bought out or traded with sonething attached or for a late round pick. I think Fast will fetch a 3rd rounder at the DL as he should be in decent demand. Maybe a late 2nd. Buchnevich seems like more of a draft day or next season move.

Kreider because of his insane fitness will be good at 33 to 35. Plus his net presence will not diminish. Exposing Skjei at 27 to the draft and losing him for nothing is fucking stupid. Trade him then for a good prospect. Rangers suddenly have a huge need for a second line center who is young. Strome ain’t it.

Well, Skjei won't even get taken in an expansion draft if he's not living up to his salary at that point. And who else can we afford to expose from our D corps by then? Can't be DA(if still here), Fox. Lindgren, Hajek(?), Trouba or Miller/Lundkvist who both will be exempt. I'm not saying he won't play well from here onward but it could be a way to 'lose' his salary off the books if they don't see value from him. The only other option would be if we signed a FA dman this summer for 3y and they played him enough to expose him, but that wouldn't make any sense with all we have in the pipeline.

Like some said here. Our fans are ridiculous with ripping our defenseman. Skjei would have big value across the league. We could easily get a top 6 forward for him or a top prospect. No reason to let him walk for nothing.

Considering Andersson is a mental case right now. Howden is not improving. Kravtsov is sucking it at the AHL and can't score. This team needs to re-stock the team with some more, young, talented forwards.

I'm not ripping him, just being honest that it's alot of hit and miss with the guy. I just don't know who else they realistically would expose on D from this roster. I agree they definately need to continue stocking up mostly on F prospects. It would be nice to see them start drafting a few more Canadian players.

Tru that. I think JD will draft more hard nosed, forwards. He said they need to get tougher. They can't afford to lose any player with good value for nothing at the expansion draft. With Rykov, Hajek and Miller coming on the left side as well as Gross who is underrated as a prospect, they can replace Skjei and Staal if they wish. Even Staal who is playing decent might have a little value with half retained to a contender. I'm not writing off Kravtsov yet but it sure doesn't look to promising. He should be at least on a 45-50 point pace in the AHL. He sucks right now. They need to make up for him and Andersson with at least 2 yound forwards. It may cost us Georgiev to do that. Honestly, I wish Hank would retire. Pay him his salary next season. He's earned it. Make him BA's assistant if he wants the job. The best thing for the organization would be to have Shesterkin and Georgiev going forward.

I really want them to go after Bennett on the Flames. He's having a crap year but he's a lot like Lemieux. We need another guy like that big time. If Gorton could do Buchnevich for Bennett and a pick, I would jump for joy.

Skjei is an elite skater with size. Honestly, Trouba makes more boneheaded plays than Skjei. To show you how over the top our fan base is with picking on our defenseman. Florida fans think Yandle is this great defenseman. Yandle fucking sucks moose dick defensively. He was one of the worst defensive defenseman I've seen here in the past 20 years. Our fans said, oh Ryan Graves can't skate. The same Graves that has 8 G 11 A and is a +34 now for the Av's. They said Pionk sucked and was crap. The same Pionk that has 31 points is a plus 6 and averages over 23 minutes of ice time a game. Skjei has 21 points and is a -1. So basically he's playing even against the other teams top lines. He probably will finish with 30+ points. He's not the reason this team isn't making the playoffs.

It's not too late for Andersson if he gets his head on straight and comes back. Kravtsov i think sort of same thing but he's getting acclimated to the US and i think next year he will break out and be good to go. Lost year for both guys. I just don't know that Andersson has more than 4th line ability. Some early mock drafts have us taking Millers WISC teammate, C Dylan Holloway if we pick around 10. I don't see HL retiring but you never know. I think he'd accept a trade somewhere first. The problem with keeping Georgiev is he will be at risk for the expansion draft if we don't have a 3rd goalie. May as well get something now while the iron is hot.

With Skjei it's just you know he's coming into the season always seemingly out of shape, i think that's what can be frustrating, but he's gotten better as he usually does after Oct. Both guys together just don't seem like a great match, as someone said earlier. Skjei really is geared to be a real good 2nd pairing guy.

I'm sure if Hank was bought out or retired, they would sign some scrub to expose him to the draft.

His contract will be up by then anyway so he'll be out of that equation. If Georgiev is still around i guess they could sign a 3rd goalie to an NHL contract just to expose him.
