Looks like Aldridge is not on the Select Team as previously mentioned. Lillard is, however.

Added to the 2014-16 USA National Team roster and participating in the July-28-Aug. 1 USA National Team training camp in Las Vegas, Nevada, are NBA standouts DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors) and Chandler Parsons (Dallas Mavericks).

Previously named USA National Team members who are confirmed to participate in the 2014 Las Vegas training camp include: Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards); DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings); Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors); Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans); Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons); Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder); Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets); Paul George (Indiana Pacers); Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers); James Harden (Houston Rockets); Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz); Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers); Kyle Korver (Atlanta Hawks); Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers); Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves); Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls); and Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors).

Two players were named 2013-14 All-NBA first team (Durant, Harden), three were second team selections (Curry, Griffin, Love) and three were named All-NBA third team (Aldridge, George, Lillard).

It's funny that Aldridge is named but he's not actually on the team. Aldridge must have declined the invitation.

Definitely disappointing. I think he could have made the team, and this was most likely his last shot.

So Dame probably needs to beat out one of Curry, Rose, and Irving to make the team. Still kinda iffy on Rose's ability to be healthy here.

I kind of hope LA was snubbed. He goes nuts after he gets slighted on stuff like this

No chance. He declined the invitation just like he declined every other invitation in the past.

Hasnt he only been invited twice and one of those times he declined was because he was recovery from surgery?

He was previously named to the roster before this. Only reason he's not on here is because he declined, like Melo, like Howard, like LeBron, etc....

I mean honestly, do you think he would be passed over for Kenneth Faried? Let's be serious here.

Coach K was pissed LAs camp didnt respond when he was recovery from injury a few years ago so wouldnt surprise me to see a fallout because of that.

I don't think people are that petty....

There not. Casey Holdahl tweeted LA withdrew his name.

Yeah, this was probably LA's last chance to play for team USA. He probably had a better chance of making the team than Dame. Disappointing but I'm betting LA would rather be with his family and I can't really blame him.

Im actually fine with him resting this summer. Dame is still young so id like him on the team and he was the talk of the camp last year.

Yeah LMA really values this time with his family. I can't fault him for that.

Jerry Colangelo said LaMarcus Aldridge told USA Basketball he's not available for FIBA World Cup. Could be last straw for Aldridge/re: USAB

I think this is what posters are already talking about, but just saw this tweeted today.

Yeah, there's been a few tweets about it.

Quick OT question, how do you embed tweets? I got the embed code but couldn't figure out how to do it

Take just the number on the end of the URL from the actual tweet and put it between [ tweet] and [ /tweet] tags (minus the spaces of course).

There's also a blue-and-white tweet button in the post toolbar now. You can use that input the tweet number.

Aldridge is just doing this because he doesn't want to be associated with a losing team.

Astonishing in how much I have contrasted with many of you in here, here of late. But again, I'm not going to be quick to give a free pass on the matter. One summer wouldn't have hurt him to give it up for his country.

Does his country really need him? It's not like he is letting us down by not playing. The USA is kind of deep.

Besides it's not one summer. The goal would be to play now so he can also play in the Olympics.

This is probably the last straw for Aldridge. He's turned them down so many times that they aren't going to rely on him anymore.

I really don't care if LA does international play. I think he is what he is, and nothing he does with Team USA is going to change that.

Dame on the other hand can really benefit from playing with these guys, and I think it will only help his star grow. Lillard has a real shot at being a superstar, so things like this can help grow his brand.

The organization is pinning their hopes on a guy who could do with or without the game. It doesn't matter one way or the other to him. I almost get the same feeling from him when it comes to winning. Again, time will only tell.
