Difference is he broke the lawThere are people in this very forum who have arsenals like that.

He was shot reaching for a gun when stopped by law enforcement, there’s even video evidence.

My point still stands, the justice leveled against Telfair seems a bit harsh compared to what the Bundy’s got — which was freedom. System is broken!
Difference is he got caught
Certain of that. But the fact remains. They were driving around with them. He is a felon. Smoking pot while driving which in itself is just wrong. Crossing a highway median at night with the lights off. Loaded weapons in the car. Extended magazines that require an additional permit to even own legally.
Pretty sure most in this forum understand the consequences for their actions. If i do that i go to jail. It's that simple.
I am opposed to mandatory minimums but his jail sentence might seem a bit harsh but not way outside of what was deserved. Not just because of guns which by themselves I would agree the sentence would be extremely excessive. But it was the guns in conjunction with drugs, driving with lights out and doing illegal maneuvers, with a criminal history and with people with criminal histories. I would think 1-3 years but 3.5 isn’t so far beyond that range.
He was very aware of the illegality of his actions. Could have plead out for less time but thought his money could win the day.
Or acting like an idiot with any gun legal or illegal. That doesn't excuse anyone on here from having illegal guns

Fixed it for you. My statement was fineFTFY

No, it's not fine. Not sure why you think I said otherwiseIt is fine to own illegal guns as long as you don't get caught or do stupid shit with them?
Well, yeah, but that goes along with any criminal bust. I've got no issues with him owning the guns as long as they're legally purchased, which in this case they were (bought in Florida, legally according to one news report I read). The way I see it, the law is the law and carrying around a bunch of weapons, even legally purchased ones, is against the law in Brooklyn. Even if you're coming at this from a selective enforcement angle where blacks are targeted more than whites, you have to admit that carrying that kind of hardware around with you while driving with your lights off, parking illegally, and smoking weed is pretty much asking to get busted. I'm sorry that Telfair has these issues because he seemed like a decent dude, but at best he's made some very stupid choices with firearms. At worst, he's got bigger problems that give him cause to want to carry that much weaponry.

Dviss stated people here had arsenals like that. My reply was basically "so?" It's not the arsenal it's the way he obtained itGood. You replied to dviss's post about people on here owning simular arsenals of illegal weapons with, "the difference is he broke the law." Anyone who owns guns illegally is breaking the law.
If I read Dviss's or your post wrong my bad.
Mandatory minimum laws are great. Will get illegal guns and people that have them off the street.
Should be 5 years, and should apply to everyone, not just felons.
I agree, everyone should get 5 years in prison, no matter what. I suggest from ages 18 to 23 would be the best time for people to serve their mandatory incarceration.
