Here's the release.
The NBA announced today that Terrel Harris of the Portland Trail Blazers has been suspended without pay for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. Harris' suspension will begin with the first game of the next NBA regular season for which he is eligible and physically able to play.
Harris was acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans in a three-team sign-and-trade deal that also landed center Robin Lopez in Portland.
Harris is on a non-guaranteed contract for the 2013-14 season. He participated for the Blazers in the Las Vegas Summer League.

If only Whitsitt were in charge, he would be signed for multi millions and multiple years.

The JailBlazers are back!

Sent from my baller ass iPad FAMS!

Lopez gave him the drugs, this is going to be a mess.

Anybody know the answer to this? If it's weed, I don't see how you could be angry at him or call him stupid when you're a fan of the NBA and 90% of players smoke marijuana.

There are many, shall we say, "government employees" on the board.

Considering he is someone who is trying like hell to improve enough to be a full time NBA player my guess is he was taking some type of PED. Jump a little higher, run a little quicker, react a little sooner, that could be the key to making millions.

Well it would be pretty rare to have a positive test from PEDs. Lance, ARod, Bonds, guys who use tons of them usually always pass all the tests. If you go to the trouble of taking PEDs you usually learn how to easily beat the tests. But if you’re just smoking pot your usually to hungry to worry about tests.

It costs a bunch to do the really good and undetectable stuff. Harris doesn't have that kind of cash. He may be trying to sneak by a little of the more common stuff that anyone can get at a golds gym.

What. A. Dolt.

Already a marginal NBA player, any team that might want to sign him now does so with the knowledge he'd be unavailable for five games.

I wonder if whatever the infraction was, was worth it?

I find it doubtful.

The league's announcement didn't identify the substance for which Harris tested positive. Based on the penalty structure laid out in the joint anti-drug policy, though, it seems unlikely it was a steroid or performance-enhancing drug — players who test positive for a so-called "SPED" get a 20-game suspension for their first violation. (Hey, there, Hedo.) Ditto for what the policy defines as "drugs of abuse" — a list that includes, but is not limited to, methamphetamine, MDMA, cocaine, GHB, LSD, ketamine, PCP, benzodiazepines and opiates — because those carry immediate dismissal and disqualification from the NBA.

Smoking pot makes you hungry because it speeds up your metabolism. It helps you lose weight.

Hell, if Oden had just smoked weed instead of drank alcohol I'm positive he would not have had as many injury problems.

Thanks for the info. my guess was likely wrong. What a dumb dumb then. On a non-guaranteed contract, skating thinly on the outside of the NBA, so close to your dream, so close to financial security, so close, but so far.

I'm fine with weed, I personally don't care what drug he took as long as its not a PED, but the rules are the rules, and you just don't act like that if you are truly committed to being an NBA player. Let's say that LMA, Wes or Batum, got caught puffing, no big deal, sit out a few games and all is back to normal. But when your name is Terrel Harris and half the fans of the team you are on don't know your name, put down the joint.

So it was pot. Or maybe shrooms? (LSD is in shrooms though so i don't know) WAIT it was heroin, he's trying to get used to Portland.

LSD is not in shrooms, its Psylocibine Cuybenis shrooms that makes you trip. LSD is always made in a lab although I think morning glory seeds are chemically similar.

Shrooms and LSD are sooo hard to test for. The trace amounts in the system are minuscule and requires very expensive testing. I doubt it was that.

Most likely it was some kind of pain killer.

Its shocking how many people fail drug tests. At one point we had 70% of potential employees failing drug tests, what the hell! When you are interviewing and applying for a job you got to know you may be tested! Guess even with a few hundred K on the line some people act the same.

This.... The psychoactive drug in mushrooms is psilocybin

Well its either Terrel Harris or Sasha Pavlovic right for the 15th SG spot? Pavlovic has a non guaranteed contract so he might be cut?

Harris would put us at 16 players so no he is for sure cut unless there is a trade. Even then I think he is cut from the bad PR.
