Is there a "Worst Rookie of the Year" award on S2 since the influx of new posters?

I have my nominee!

There is but I've won it the past 5 years straight and I'm not giving up the crown this year.

I agree! If SlyPokerDog can't enjoy a 23-5 record good for best in the league than its obvious he is a loser.

Simmer down there bucky. There is a HUGE problem with your "trade". You never mentioned what we'd give the Knicks to make this magical trade happen. And that's the problem, unless you want to give up Aldridge, or Batum and one or two bench players, or 4 or 5 bench players, the salaries won't match. And the Knicks couldn't take 4 or 5 of our bench players even if they wonted too. They don't have the roster spots to take on the extra players. Same problem with trading Lopez, he doesn't make enough. Unless you want to give up another starter, to make the salaries match, you'd have to include too many bench players for the trade to work. Even if Olshey thinks Chandler and Shumpert are the answer, getting them may be impossible due to Chandler's $14+ million salary.

You get an incomplete for only proposing half a trade. I think we just need to trade for Dwight Howard and LeBron James. That's my half trade proposal. They'd definitely address all our weaknesses much better than Chandler and Shumpert. My half trade is much better than your half trade. Get 'er done Olshey you slacker.

P.S. Please leave my HS girlfriend out of this. It still stings... Have mercy man. Too soon, still way too soon...

Whatever, say what you want, but if the Blazers traded for Shumpert and Chandler they actually might win a title. They have 0 % chance with the current roster. If the goal is the title then make the trade. If the goal is to have a good record and lose in the first round to the Rockets then don't make the trade.

You are clueless. You would not have to give up Aldridge to get freakin Tyson Chandler and Shumpert (who they are trying to get rid of) Would not have to give up ANY STARTER!! You ever hear of SELLING?? draft picks? young players? The simple fact that you would even suggest that we would have to give up Aldridge made me lose any hope that you have any clue of what the hell you're talking about. GOOD LORD.

Ever heard of the CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) or the salary cap? What draft picks can we "sell" that will make this trade possible? You keep going on and on about this impossible trade. So, tell us exactly what the Blazers are going to give up and how the salaries will work within the requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We don't have draft picks to give that are worth anything. Clueless people get that, apparently.

We need to find roughly 16 million to trade back to NY for Chandler and Shumpert. I included espn trade machine for your enjoyment. Let us knmow how we do it.....GO

Only have to get within $5m of Chandler/Shumpert's combined salaries. Say we sell high on Matthews to make this deal (not recommending, just theorizing). Matthews/Williams/Claver meets the outgoing salary threshold. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=jvm7sre

Of course, trade machine says that deal makes us significantly worse, so...

Yep, we either need to trade at least one highly paid starter (Aldridge or Batum) or one of our lesser paid starters (Matthews, Lopez or Lillard) and at least two bench players, or our 4 highest paid bench players and NY doesn't have the open roster spots to do a 2 for 3 or 2 for 4 trade. So, they'd need to waive one, or more players and eat their salaries and the luxury tax they'd have to pay. I know the Knicks management aren't terribly bright, but why the hell would they want to have anything to do with a trade that gives them our bench players for their starters AND costs them money?

There are two sides to every trade, and as I said earlier the OP only presented half a trade - half of a very impractical, improbable trade and then had a meltdown when other posters pointed that out.

Here's another link the OP may want to study before making additional half-assed, half trade proposals:

Larry Coon's NBA Salary Cap FAQ.

Actually, if they waived a minimum salary player (like Toure' Murry), and then took back $5M less in salary than they sent out, it would save them $10M+ (factoring in luxury tax savings).

Shumpert and chandler are not coming to Portland.

Portland could probably make it work with some help and probably giving up a future first round pick. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=qz5fwmu While the addition of a healthy Chandler and Shumpert would certainly improve our defense this trade would probably cost us all our shooters off the bench except McCollum.

I am also not remotely convinced New York is ready to enter tank mode yet. Interesting idea probably not feasible.

why would NYK be in tank mode? So that DEN can get a high pick?

And why would a team that's 23-5 want to give up multiple players to get players back from a team that's 8-18? I know you look at the individual players and see how they would fit, but there is a reason the Knicks suck and it's because they have a roster full over selfish, overpaid malcontents. The OP still hasn't mentioned ONE player we'd give up to make his personal wet dream of a trade scenario work. Well, to make the salaries work, we'd have to give up either Aldridge, or multiple significant pieces. Ain't gonna happen. Neal Olshey is smarter than that. He's not going to destroy our team chemistry and the success we are having to get some guys from a dysfunctional losing team. You don't blow up a team that's 23-5 - which is exactly what any 5 (or more) player blockbuster trade would do. You add a piece if you can, without giving up anything significant, but you don't give up 2 or 3 rotation guys from a winning team to bring in multiple rotation guys from a losing team and expect good things to happen. The Knicks culture is the most toxic in the entire NBA. I want none of that infecting my Blazers.

Well part of the reason the Knicks are 8-18 is because Chandler was hurt for a significant amount of time. I think the pieces he is targeting are exactly the kind we need for the playoffs. Question is how much are they asking for.

And, they are 2-4 in the 6 games he's played. That team has the 2nd highest payroll in the league. The play in the weakest division in the history of the NBA and they are still 10 games under .500 26 games into the season. They have over the hill guys on ridiculous contracts - and Chandler is one of those guys. He's never been durable and he's not getting healthier as he ages. And, he makes LaMarcus Aldridge money this year and next.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Chandler as our back-up center, but his contract makes it impractical and highly improbable. We'd have to give up too much to get him.

Boob how many games could you win with Bargnani, Felton and Metta World Peace.
