Donald Trump's campaign Tuesday night said that he “denounces hate in any form” and disavowed support for his candidacy offered by a newspaper associated with the Ku Klux Klan.

“This publication is repulsive and their views do not represent the tens of millions of Americans who are uniting behind our campaign,” Trump's campaign said in a statement.

Here’s some guidance right off the bat, Mr. President-elect: Those sentiments will have more force if you immediately and unequivocally repudiate the outpouring of racist, sexist, xenophobic, anti-Semitic and homophobic insults, threats and attacks being associated with your name. Do this in a personal plea to people who supported your candidacy. Tell them this is not what you stand for, nor is it what your new administration will tolerate.

racist, xenophobic and homophobic violence and harassment in a
60 Minutesinterview Sunday. "I would say, 'Don't do it. That's terrible,'" he told Lesley Stahl in his first televised sit-down as president-elect. "Because I'm going to bring this country together … I am so saddened to hear that, and I say, 'Stop it.' If it helps, I will say this, and I'll say it directly into the camera: 'Stop it."
