So, planning Thanksgiving, decided to go classical on menu (plus alternates for the vegetarian/vegan/gluten free folks - it's like I have to make two dinners!)

Anyway. Last winter rains made it a good year for my apple trees, so definitely baking a Very Local Apple Pie. And making vegan ice "cream" sundae (coconut milk ice "cream" and vegan chocolate sauce). But need two more desserts, sorted and sorted and only got it down to five.

So Board, vote on my desserts! (vote for two)

This year I'm thinking about doing a gravy bar, 6 different turkey gravies served with diced turkey breast on toothpicks before dinner so people can sample and select the ones they want for dinner. So far I've found these recipes:

  • Bacon-Caramelized Onion Gravy
  • Thyme-and-Apple Cider Gravy
  • Rosemary-and-Bourbon Gravy
  • Bay Leaf, Beer, And Orange Gravy
  • Wild Mushroom Gravy
  • Traditional Turkey Gravy

Figure you can't go wrong with bacon, beer and bourbon.

I'm making some pumpkin cream pie for dessert

I am making two gravies, the traditional turkey gravy based on stock & drippings and a vegan mushroom gravy. Don't have entire menu set but getting close.

Decided vegan alternate entree is Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili. Can make up ahead of time, freeze, then pop into slow cooker to warm up.

Just trying to keep the customers satisfied, thank you Simon & Garfunkel.

Finally have a menu, although some potential guests undecided. Not sure if Lucia will show up. Margot will hide in the garden for certain.

Amazing menu. Sounds delicious. I'll have to put my menu up, not that it stands anywhere near yours

Don't listen to them @crandc!!

That sweet potato pie will be the best!

I agree her menu looks mouth watering. I greatly appreciate the inclusion of tums.

I would like to @SlyPokerDog s menu...looks like he's cooking up some good stuff...all those gravys....mmm

Fairly traditional for our family.

Main Meal:

Roast venison rubbed with a paste of fresh churned butter, rosemary, sage, garlic, salt and pepper.
Fondant potatoes
Morel mushroom gravy
Candied yams
Green beans with bacon
Jalapeno coleslaw salad

Dessert:
Fry Bread dipped in clarified butter topped with huckleberry preserves.

I will unfortunately be away from my family on thanksgiving for work. Hope you guys will be with loved ones.

Sorry man, that sucks. I am fortunate enough to get to be with my family.

That's a good choice as I always enjoy my grandma's homemade sweet potato pie.

However, I would definitely try Butternut Squash Spice Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

Every single one of those desserts sounds amazing. I'm just partial to sweet potato pie.

As a pie loving American who loves Thanksgiving, this list is hard to look at. Of the choices, I vote sweet potato pie

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

Although I suspect I respect and know the reason, and I fear that this will cause a hijacking of the thread, why don't you?

I was only joking, I eat food with my family to humor them but I wouldn't celebrate it if it wasn't for them. It's a lame holiday to me for the whole Indian thing, plus you do the same thing with Christmas just a month later.
