Truly, I wonder if he's done any good for this team (what's our eastern road record??). Upon watching yesterday's debacle, I couldn't help but wonder. I mean, the team didn't even show up here until late Saturday night......then had to play a day game.....and it showed. They were seemingly a step behind ......missed easy shots......fumbled and bumbled......appeared a bit dazed and confused.....all game long.

Considering it was a day game, I had thought back on Friday that the team should just go ahead and take a red-eye into ATL, show up early Saturday, get some rest, then go from there. Besides, doesn't Paul's luxury liner have comfy beds on it?? :dunno:

Anyway, now that they've somewhat acclimated themselves to the ETZ, I hope they put up a better effort tonight than they did yesterday.

Usually west coast teams have an advantage on the East Coast -- playing earlier in the day.

But a 10 AM Pacific game is very tough to get up for, especially since the team usually wakes up at 10 AM!

Tonight should show much better results.

Late? They got to ATL around 5:00pm (PT) according to what MB said during the broadcast. MB also said that the game was at a time that they would be typically be practicing if they where in Portland and he thought the early start time would have more of a negative effect on ATL than us. So there really isnt any excuse for being flat yesterday.

So, if I'm getting this correct, they show up in Atlanta at 8 PM EDT, then go practice......get to bed, then have to wake up around 7 AM body time to go play a game. Just doesn't seem right to me.
 
Let's not blame this on the Sleep Doctor. Portland has been toying with a blowout for quite some time. As Brandon Roy said, they have not been playing well at all at home either, except for the Laker/Spurs game.

Agreed. Aside from the Laker game, we're just not playing well. Nate needs to get better play from these guys.

Part of the "sleep doctor" thing is to stay on PDX time. As I said before, MB said they practice at 10:00am all the time, so playing a game at that same time shouldnt be that big of a difference.

I would think they'd have to be at (and mentally prepared for) a game far earlier than they would practice. But, whatever.

Plus, our overall record playing in the east pretty much sucks. I'll blame that on the sleep doctor, OK? :lol:

You're right. I stand corrected. Is it, like 8-4?

OK, OK, the Blazers should have won that game. I will mention, however, that the Hawks have snapped a number of streaks in the highlight factory. Boston, Cleveland, and Utah come to mind. The Hawks have now won 5-game win streak.

I couldn't disagree more; The Hawks are an excellent home team and have been playing very well in the past couple of weeks, everything about that game screamed 'road loss.'

Atlanta losing to us on their home court would have been roughly equivalent to them beating us on our home court -- let's give credit where it's due, the Hawks are a good team.

Personally, I think the Blazers are a much better team than the Hawks.....even on the road. However, you could just see that we weren't sharp during the game. Trust me, I was very close to the action. :) It was the "little" things that happened early on in the game that begin to set the tone. In this case, wide open - and I mean uncontested - missed shots by Blake; Joel made some silly passes for turnovers; various miscommunication between exchanges - guys going one way, the ball going the other; inexplicable defensive lapses; etc., etc.

From that point on, you could just see the Hawks' confidence grow and grow....to the point where everything they did was successful, while the Blazers began to gang their collective heads.

All that being said, when LMA got hot in the 3rd Quarter and began to school J-Smoove shot after shot (the Blazers got withing 3 prior to Woodson's timeout)...I thought the Blazers would begin to control the game. They should have, IMO. But, for whatever reason, they got complacent again...and the same scenario repeated itself.

Terrible, terrible loss. I'm tellin' ya, it's a game we should have won. It's no wonder Roy went off following the game.
 
11 games yesterday. 9 of which were won by the home team.
 
I bet all this Sleep Doctor stuff affects about 1% of the team's performance.... Sure it might have an influence, but this team always comes out slowly, 10:00 am or not.
