I'm not sure why people feel the need to tear down young civic minded people. Disagree with their political ideas? Totally ok and natural. No need to tear down a young woman who is making an attempt to be politically active.

Honestly, many politicians in NY or CA tend to already share views like her - only they don't parade out in the open like she does.

I guess my problem with people like her is that they tend to support or enact policies that sound good but have disastrous long term effects which, ironically, ends up hurting the people they are meant to help. For example, look at all those politicians in San Francisco, whose various policies over the years made it harder for people in Oakland and made it so the income disparity grew. Same thing happens in Portland (who attempts to replicate the San Francisco model) and with that comes rising costs of living, zoning laws, homelessness, scaring away businesses, destruction of the middle class, making certain parts of Portland economically worse, etc.

Essentially, these Ocasio-Cortez types read a few theories and crunched a few numbers and now assume that it equates to understanding the complexities of life. I don't think it ends well if they get ever into power.

On that note, in the coming years, I do think it will be somewhat amusing when Russians and the Chinese try to hack and interfere to push candidates like her into power as part of their geopolitical playbook. A lot of the roles and reactions we see today are going to be reversed.
