Do the Blazers want to trade expirings for expirings or do they want to get back better fitting players with contracts that aren't up to do a quick rebuild. We aren't going to get good FA's to come here. We have to net good players in trade.

If that deal did go through for Bagley the pick would be down the road and wouldn't help the Blazers now, when they need it. I suppose they could then trade that pick in a deal for something that helps us now.

Myles Turner hurt his foot so he's out of the conversation

Christian Wood?

If there was a three team deal between Portland, Houston, and OKC that could net us Wood and Dort...holy hell

I would think the ideal thing would be to land players with more control beyond this season, but mayeb they figure picks to use in trades are better assets?

“If the rumored Covington for Bagley and a pick trade eventuates, the clear prize for the Blazers will be the pick, not Bagley.”

Ouch

He's been pretty terrible

Maybe a change of scenery fixes that, but jeez

I find it ironic that a big man the Blazers are rumored to be interested in then gets hurt. If i was Turner I am like please do not connect my name to the Blazers big men and them is like super bad luck makes the madden curse look tame -- LOL

Damn. You know it's bad if even your name gets associated with the Blazers and your a center, your going to get injured.

Bagley been hurt each year and he not good defender and average offense player so far. But I also know Sacramento kind ruin there young guys too. I think he be one of those players you either hit a home run with or let him walk at the end of the season. Like someone said the draft choice might be the reward.

Nurkic will not re-sign if Portland trades Dame....that's just about guaranteed. Portland won't be trading Dame any time soon so there is probably a decent chance they can re-sign Nurkic if they want...and if Nurkic has reasonable expectations about contract

I think Nurk was pretty unhappy with Billups over the first 20 games or so. He's been more involved in the offense lately

personally, I don't agree with all those saying dump Nurkic. Portland doesn't have any comparable big man as an option. On the other hand, Traditional C's like Nurkic have lost value in the new NBA so I would not like to see Nurkic re-signed for much more than he currently makes...probably should be less

If we resign Nurkic for less than he makes now, I feel like there is a decent chance he will be pissy about staying here anyways.

I don't see him having a big market. Anything more than 10 million a year is probably too much for him.

I tend to agree. I don't think any team will be willing to invest big cap-space on him. More likely all or part of an MLE which is a little under 10M

here's a list of bigs and their salaries this year:

Daniel Theis $8,372,093
Mason Plumlee $8,137,500
DeAndre Jordan $7,827,907
Mo Bamba $7,568,742
Ivica Zubac $7,518,518
Juancho Hernangómez $7,012,440
Chris Boucher $7,009,615
Kevon Looney $5,178,572
JaVale McGee $5,000,000
Robin Lopez $5,000,000
Taj Gibson $4,910,000
Bobby Portis $4,347,600
Willie Cauley-Stein $4,200,000
Gorgui Dieng $4,000,000
Alex Len $3,731,707
Boban Marjanović $3,500,000
Dewayne Dedmon $5,256,308
Dwight Howard $2,641,691
LaMarcus Aldridge $2,641,691
Ed Davis $2,641,691
Hassan Whiteside $2,401,537
Andre Drummond $2,401,537
Cody Zeller $2,389,641
Frank Kaminsky $2,089,448
Nemanja Bjelica $2,089,448

now, Nurkic is better than just about all of those guys, but he's not so much better to justify 3-5 times the salary. A lot of teams go with cheap option at C so they can spend cap elsewhere

  • 2. Steven Adams, $29,592,695

  • 5. Karl-Anthony Towns, $29,467,800

  • 7. Andre Drummond, $28,751,774

  • 8. Al Horford, $27,500,000

McCollum to Indiana
Siakam to Portland
Turner and picks to Toronto

I had said this a while ago but with Portland adding a little extra and Sabonis, instead of Turner going to Toronto. Same philosophy. This trade would be sexy.

That was Pincus' exact same narrative about CJ when he said we'd have to add assets to move him.

Pincus is a hack.

McCollum to Indiana
Siakam to Portland
Turner and picks to Toronto

Siakam has averaged 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.6 assists in his last 10 games and 16 steals and 6 block in that stretch. Would take at least a first rounder from both Indiana and Portland I think.

OK, I really want Siakam and people are saying we need to get rid of two of Anf, CJ and Powell. CJ to Indiana, Anf, Turner and Warren to Toronto, Siakam to Portland. No draft picks,
Could tinker with that a little and add McConnel from Indiana to us and Smith to them. Or would be better financially and more palatable for Indiana if we sent Covington to them and got back McConnel

Pritchard wanting 2 1sts and an ending contract or....
....an up and coming young player and a 1st....
....for Myles Turner.

They MIGHT get that return for Sabonis, not Turner. And even that is a bit steep. If their asking price is leaking to the media, good luck actually getting it.

Before Reddish was traded to the Knicks for essentially peanuts, multiple sources were reporting the asking price from ATL was a lottery pick or nothing short of Ben Simmons.

Houston leaked that the asking price for Eric Gordon is a first.

All this is just canvasing the league for offers, and and attempts to increase value via the media. These efforts are rarely fruitful in drumming up the kind of return these teams expect.
