Nurk, Nance and Simons for Siakam?

We arent getting Siakam or Simmons people need to stop with that shit and get back to reality.

I will say Siakam would be more plausible than Simmons. But, we aren't trading Simons and Toronto doesn't want CJ though they would love to have Nurk, so it's not happening

I'd do that in a heartbeat especially if we had a deal set sending CJ for Hart, Hayes, Satoransky and draft considerations. I don't know if the team would do it though because it puts us back into the luxury tax.

I like the idea of going into next season with Dame, Hart, Nas, Siakam and Hayes as our starting lineup and without Dame and Nas this season we would surely keep on tanking along and maybe wind up with another impact player from the draft.

But maybe we trade that pick we get from the Pelicans, our second rounder this year and Bledsoe for a player making around 15M a season to get us back under the tax line.

It's win now, isn't it? Gotta be in the next two years. Hopefully Jody would want to honor Paul by spending to go for it!

He didn't say anything about CJ. It's Nurk, Larry and Ant for Siakam. I actually think that the Raptors would do that deal but it brings back 5M more to us than we send out so regardless of the fact that it would give us another all star level player to pair with Dame, I think the franchise is more about the financials than winning. With that said you could conceivably get back under the tax line if you worked a deal sending CJ to the Pelicans for Hart, Hayes, Satoransky and draft considerations, then sending Bledsoe and those draft considerations to the Wolves for Beasley.

That's a lot of shit going right though. For sure our team would have to make the two trades happen that cut the cap number down to a level that would keep them under the tax before they made that trade for Siakam.

I definitely appreciate the sentiment, I just don't think what happened on Friday communicates that the team feels the same way.

After doing some more research, I have decided that Wood might be a better target than Siakam. Let's compare Siakam this year (his best year of his last three) to Wood's last year in Detroit when he last played at PF, not center. Their blocks and steals very similar. Wood much higher rebounding % 18 to 12. Ortg Wood 123 to Siakam 113, dtrg both 110. OBPM Wood 3.5 to Siakam 2.1 DBPM Siakam .6, Wood minus .3 Wood can co-exist with Nurk, he is shooting .371 from three this year, that's also his career %, Nurk would probably have to go in a Siakam trade but I hope we could get Wood on the CJ three way with New Orleans by adding a FRP. (Houston would also get 21 year old Jackson Hayes). I would also try to trade Bledsoe for Eric Gordon. Does anyone realize that Gordon has an efg% of 60? I don't care if he has two more years on his contract; those are the two years Portland needs to win or else rebuild.
If Houston wants more than a FRP, I would trade them Simons. It's win now. baby!

Not happening. Cronin just said Simons is a core player now and the Blazers are putting their faith in him

Well last week he said the plan is to build around the core of Dame, CJ and Nurk. If both are true then we really are fucked.

Yeah who knows

But they can't resign Simons with CJ still here

What do we know about Wood defense?
"After a defensive turnaround highlighted the Rockets’ victory over the Kings on Sunday in the second of two consecutive games at Golden 1 Center, Rockets coach Stephen Silas lauded center Christian Wood as the centerpiece of Houston’s improved coverage.

'Christian was so good in his talk in the pick-and-roll, as good as he’s been all season,' Silas said. 'His early talk, you could see we were organized, we could get our protection behind the ball. And yeah, like I say, communication brings organization, and he did it.'

Although Wood is well-regarded for his versatility on offense, his defensive aptitude can get lost in the muck of the Rockets’ NBA-worst defense. Wood leads the Rockets in defensive win shares (1.1) and has the best defensive rating among Rockets players who average at least 19 minutes per game.

Wood is such a vital cog in Houston’s switch-everything defense that his mistakes are magnified. But when he plays well and communicates to help his teammates stick to their assignments, the Rockets look like a different team in the half court.

As one of the most experienced players on the floor for the Rockets, Wood embraced a vocal role on defense. He directed his teammates to their spots in transition, called for help to cut off baseline drives, and during timeouts pulled Porter and Jalen Green aside to discuss coverages."

Well, I am sure everyone is waiting with bated breath to see what out team would look like after my trades. Definitely more experienced, tougher and taller. Older and not as much potential I guess.

Three guard rotation: Lillard, Josh Hart and Eric Gordon. Forwards: Little, Nance, Winston, Wood and best SF from the draft. Center: Nurk and Wood plus a free agent. Reserves Elleby, Keon Johnson, Watford and Brown.

This is all really from one three team deal. No draft picks. New Orleans gets CJ and one of our minimums; They lose Hart Satoransky and Hayes. How can they say No?

Houston gets Hayes, Simons and more money savings with Bledsoe and Satoransky. They give up Wood and Gordon. How can they say No?

Blazers get Wood, Hart and Gordon for CJ and Ant and Bledsoe. The only problem is that this team might be too tough to fall below .500 but their only PG would be Smith so I think they can stay in good lottery position.

And yes I realize Gordon is 33 but shooting best of his life and you saw his energy against us.

Now that I think that Wood is a better target than Siakam and much less risk than a Simmons, what other deals could we make? If you wanted to keep CJ, then trade Wood for Bledsoe and give them their value with an Anf plus draft pick for some asset they may not want. I have read that's what they want: a good young player and a draft pick. To tell the truth I would rather have Gordon and Hart than CJ.
Yeh I don't like this one at all. It requires giving up a draft pick also. I think New Orleans wants CJ bad and it's better to get them involved.

OK, then let's get us some Wood! Just as good and less expensive!

Caris levert was traded for a first and two seconds. You’re telling me levert is better than Norm???

Are you trying to ruin my day? And I'm still waiting for when Clippers trade Roco for a first......should be soon.

Basically they got a 1st and a 2nd

We got Keon and a 2nd

They got more for less imo

If we woulda got a lottery protected 1st in the deal exactly how it is now I wouldn’t be complaining.

What does this mean for CJs value. Is asking for Hayes/Hart/Expiring/Top 5 protected 1st too much?

Didn’t they give up a second and get 2 seconds which equals 1 second?

The Athletic gave the Pacers a C+, which is lower than what they gave the Blazers. Guess we got a new worst trade in the history of the NBA!

BLAZERS should have got an F

Gave up:
4 seasons of Powell
opportunity/advantage to re-sign Roco

Acquired:
Full MLE
Space to re-sign Ant and Nurk
A first rounder that was just drafted that at one point was a projected lottery pick
A solid role player in Winslow
Bledsoe’s contract to use in a trade/free up money
Second round pick

If that’s an F so be it.

Lulz They could have signed Nurk and Ant regardless of this trade. A second round pick 3 years from now? LMFAO.

I don't understand how people are trying to spin this after what Indiana just got for Levert. Kings wanted to give us Bagley for Roco straight up and he would be a better prospect than anyone we got back in this trade.

im not salary cap expert, but, had they re-signed nurk & ant, they wouldve been in a luxury tax (they already were)

im not even sure they can re-sign nurk & ant on 20 per contracts, even if they trade cj mccollum
