Portland Trail Blazers: Longtime Trail Blazers executive Joe Cronin was elevated to the interim general manager role after Neil Olshey’s firing in early December. With Lillard’s future still uncertain, he needs to upgrade this roster to calm those waters. Sources say Detroit’s Jerami Grant and Boston’s Jaylen Brown are the types of talents that would achieve that goal, but it remains to be seen if Cronin can pull something like that off. Lillard is out for at least six weeks after having abdominal surgery on Jan. 13. The Trail Blazers were widely believed to be pursuing Turner, and it’s unclear how the injury will impact the interest on that front. If it’s a lost season anyways, then maybe it’s a deal still worth doing. Then again, it’s a risky play considering Turner — who is owed $18 million this season and next — will become a free agent in the summer of 2023).

Mentioning Grant in the same breath as Brown is laughable.

If jaylen is available, you throw everything outside of Dame for him.

nas, picks, Simons, whatever they want.

Dame has said in the past he'd love to play with Jaylen Brown..man if we could swing that it'd be a homerun

What do you think CJ is worth grand intelligent master Scalma? Can't believe you're not working in an NBA front office. I think he's a middling asset, Love makes less, Okoro was a top 8 pick last year and has shown the ability to play lockdown D (that's what the FUCK he has done). Roco is an expiring aged player doubt his value is through the roof.

"Love makes less" - he actually doesn't, is an injury waiting to happen, and doesn't have the ability to play starter minutes. But yeah lets pay a bench player 30 million. Why aren't YOU in an NBA front office?

"Okoro has shown the ability to play lockdown D" "Roco is an aged player"

Roco grades out as literally twice the defender THIS season. Okoro's overall BPM is a -1.9. His VORP is lower than Little's. What an asset where do I sign up

I'm sure we would all love Jaylen Brown but how does that happen?

I read the article, it didn't seem like he was reporting the Blazers were more focused on Brown, he just threw out the name as the type of player Dame would wanna play with.

....and he'd like to play with Ben Simmons.
....and weren't he and Grant buds on the Olympic team?

Or Roco, Simons and Nurk for Brown? I think they might like that better. Or if they prefer Powell and/or Nance instead of Roco/Nurk, I'd do that also.

Scalma, it's cool that you don't agree with the deal, but you aren't as smart as you think you are. Roco is not a good point of attack defender, which is the big hole in our defense. Players on rookie deals that are productive are worth lot more than players expiring at the end of their prime.

I never claimed Love was a positive asset, but I don't think CJ has much value either. To phrase it in a way you can understand "CJ is an injury waiting to happen, is an undersized chucker that doesn't play defense, but yeah let's pay him 33 and 36 million over the two years (contrast with 30 total to Love) and block the development of Simons".

Celtics have a center, a good one too.
But could Williams play PF if they had Nurk? I just thought they might want to change up their offense. Of course we could substitute Powell, Nance or Roco for Nurk.

Celtics desperately need a PG who can shoot and creat. I think they're good at C with Williams/Horford.

Ignoring your passive aggressiveness, CJ is a 20 point scorer. There are 33 of those in the entire league and I counted only 3 that could possible be had in a trade (Grant, Fox, CJ) and he's a better scorer than either of them. Also, how is he an injury waiting to happen, he's been one of the most durable players in the league. Chucker? His career shooting percentages are 45/40. If he's a chucker, he's an efficient one.

Also 31 is not old in the NBA, not when teams pay guys in their mid 30s huge contracts. And Rocos numbers line up with the rest of his career, so there isn't much evidence that he's regressing. Sorry you dont like him, but your assessment doesn't really line up with reality.

Williams offers zero spacing and is one of the best rim protectors/rim finishers in the league. He needs to be as close to the basket as possible imo.

If you think that CJ is more valuable than Grant or Fox then it's probably not worth trying to argue with you. :no2drugs:

CJ is the definition of a chucker. He's a great shooter, but he doesn't make plays for others, plays horrible defense, and NEVER gets to the foul line. He offers nothing other than scoring. Also, the dude has missed pretty decent chunks of time the last two years and was hurt in the playoffs the year prior.

I said CJ was a better scorer than both, and he is. Grant would never be a first or second option on a playoff team. He’s a role player with a green light. He’s the chucker. Fox can’t shoot.

OK, if he is that good; I'll take him too and also take Horford's contract off them. Simons, Little , Powell, Nurk and Roco for Brown, Williams and Horford. Try to substitute Nance plus a pick for Little. Would still have CJ to trade for something else then. Boston could try those guys out and if they don't like them, they would have some cap space.
