How would you feel if the Blazers didn't get Randle back but instead got Obi Toppin as part of the deal? I think that's where there's value to be found, personally, if the Blazers are dealing with the Knicks.
I would feel that Dame was most definitely on the way out.

I would also feel excited to see what an Ant/Keon/Nas/Obi/GB3 lineup would look like. In-game dunk contest?

DFS is a Mav, not a Pelican?
Herb Jones?

Pelicans don't want to trade Jones or Ingram. New York and Atlanta can give the Blazers better deals.

If you look at Toppin's numbers this season, per 36, he looks a lot like Randle, but there's upside there. He's creeping up on being a double-digit-per game scorer. I think he's closer to being a quality NBA starter right now than a lot of people realize. If he's not ready to step in next year and be a guy other teams have to respect, he should be by the following season.

CJ --> NY
Randle --> Atlanta
Collins --> PDX...?

Dallas has been rumored to have an interest in CJ, too.

Powell + Bullock + Kleiber + 1st for CJ + Snell

I think the Blazers would have to waive somebody though

1st from Dallas wouldn't be until 2025 at the earliest.

I could live with either of those deals. And it's not like we don't have a number of good candidates to waive.

Only way I see it working salary-wise without involving Randle would be Toppin/Fournier/(one of Burks/Kemba/Noel) for CJ+2 minimum guys (since we have no open roster spots and don't want to add salary).

I guess maybe I could accept something like that.

ATL FO got a first row seat in the playoffs last year to their team dismantling a Randle-led NY team. I don't think they'd value him as highly as someone like me.

The thing about Randle is we’ve seen what he’s capable of. If he was consistent at it, we wouldn’t be talking about possibly getting him for CJ McCollum. Trading for him is with the confidence that Billups/Dame would get that version of him more consistently. It’s a risk, but one we probably have to take.

That said, there are other less risky fours I’m interested in. Not sure if they’re as available though. Not sure Randle is that available either. Can Thursday just be over with already?

Had been trying to think of CJ to the Knicks, and then using those picks with Bledsoe to get Collins. It's off by less than 250k. Damnit

ATL has no motivation to simply salary dump a very useful player like Collins for picks. If you're going that route, I'd look at Sabonis. Or ... Jerami Grant. ugh Depends on what Indy is seeking, though. We have repeatedly heard "the Vucevic" package. This is somewhat similar.

I'm probably mixing up players then, was thinking they wanted 2 picks for him. Nevermind! Although Bledsoe could be a decent fit next to Trae, adding much needed defense

would work for grant tho...

also if the Knicks would trade Toppin gimme.

It would actually work for Collins as well. Forgot that up to 19 million outgoing, you use the add 5 million, not the 125%. But sure, would explore it for Grant as well.
Noel, Fournier, Toppin, 2 picks, then those picks for Grant. Ultimately CJ(and Bledsoe) for Fournier, Toppin, Noel and Grant?

Thibs has had issues with multiple players, maybe he’s the problem.
While there's probably some truth to that, Randle has played for multiple coaches and outside of last year this has been the knock on him everywhere he's been.

One of the Knicks writers on SB said a trade for McCollum would look something like Fournier, Kemba and Burks. Although I wouldn't mind Fournier or Burks being part of the deal, I would say a big hell no to Kemba.

That sounds right up Cronin's alley!

collins is younger and in the right situation will prove to be the better player

if you can get john collins, you dont think twice

WE don't think twice, but Neil thinks twice.....once for each first round pick he traded to avoid picking Collins. What a joke the Olshey is.

Randle is a better play-maker and a slightly better rebounder. Offsetting that a bit is that his assist/turnover ratio is terrible for a playmaker

Some of the numbers are similar, but the efficiency/shooting for Randle is TUR'BLE. A serious brick-layer this season.

Would you guys trade Nurk and Ant for OG if the Raptors were down? They might want to get a third team involved because Ant isn't the best fit for them but that wouldn't matter, I'm just interested to know if any of you think that would be a good trade for us.

so then, the expiring 18M contract for Rubio, a player out for the season, has a lot of value. Meanwhile the expiring 13M contract for the healthy Covington, has almost no value?

Correct.... apparently
