The after 3 games 'not worried' thread.

Good thing we have the Cavs next. Kyrie will probably triple Dame's points and Kyrie/Lebron/Love will probably get 100 points between them.

I'm honestly not worried right now. It's very early and we're still very far from clicking on all cylinders. But there are some good signs, I see TRob and Barton finally made the show, Dame will find his groove, Blake and Kaman are great additions to the bench, Wesley seems poised for a great season.
The biggest thing I'd be looking at is Lillard and Aldridge's improvement on defense, that's the biggest thing right now. That's the next step. I saw some positive signs against Sacto and if they are able to take the next step in this aspect it'd be worth the growing pains.

We should be 3-0. We're not.

We should be taking advantage of OKC while they are awaiting their stars' return. We're not.

We should be playing with more passion, intensity, and emotion. We're not.

This is the beginning of the season, not the middle of January. If I don't see some spark from this team against LeBron's Cavs ... color me worried.

They suck. They probably feel like the won a championship beating the Rockets last year. They were all just playing out of their minds. This year they don't even look like a playoff team. We should be 0-3.

Remember all summer people were talking about the advantage of bringing back, essentially, the same roster? That was suppose to play to our advantage - these guys all knew how to play together so we wouldn't have to go through the process of learning on to play during games that count. To this point that clearly hasn't been the case.

That's not to say I'm worried. I still see this team as a middle-of-the-pack Playoff team that'll lose in the 1st or 2nd round.

The Blazers should be 3-0 right now. That they aren't is reason to be disappointed.

They had a golden opportunity to get a jump on the division. I had dreams of winning the division and earning home court for the playoffs. That they are squandering this opportunity is cause for worry.

They will figure out they need to stop reading their press clippings. They will figure out that what they accomplished last season doesn't mean shit.

I hope.

Still a shame they are shooting themselves in the ass an squandering a chance for home court.

agree, what perhaps is most disappointing to me is the overall effort level, if you want to become an "elite" team you have to bring it every night and every quarter, you can't expect to be able to play 3 crappy qtrs and then all of a sudden turn the switch and play well and win. These guys should have figured that out by now. They need to start showing us they have, and "effort level" also means "mental" effort/concentration so we can stop making so many sloppy mistakes. No reason to panic yet but certainly reason to be concerned and disappointed.

I 100% agree with this. It's a matter of effort over personnel. That's what pissed me off over anything else

Sacramento beat the Clippers in LA. I'm not all that disappointed at this point.

I'm not really disappointed, I try not to jump to a lot of conclusions until later in the season but its pretty easy to see we are getting out worked and out hustled every game and thats something was a problem last year and I was hoping it wouldn't become a problem this year.

As others have said so far Im more disappointed than I am worried. But putting that aside I am done with the talk from the players. Elite this and contender that. I really dont want to hear another word about that because their words on that are meaningless to me at this point. It really is time that actions speak louder than words. Put up or shut up.

I'm not sure I would declare this team 'fine,' but it is way early to freak out - lots of time to sort this thing out and get going.

We definitely have time and a lot of home games coming up to figure it out.

I am a little worried. I won't stop worrying until I see Lillard come out of this funk he's in.

I've decide to take a deep breath and wait to see how we look 20 games in. I'm very disappointed with the first 3 on a lot of levels. Hopefully our coaching staff is on this

Honestly, I think they spent too much time talking about it. Saying it over and over again may make it seem real, but it's only an allusion, that creates an illusion. Time to stop talking and start doing.

If this is how we think how can we possibly be considered championship contenders?
Best BGD post ever? Possibly. If nothing else, it's a valid point. If the Blazers are going to be contenders, they must be able to win constistently on the road.

After last night's game, I never wanted to watch basketball again. Seriously. But I'm better now. Tomorrow's a chance for redemption. We started the season 2-2 last year after all. I may have to go to more games too. That was key to our quick start. Remember when Mags chipped in to send me to Milwaukee?

I'm not really sure what fans thinking has to do with a team being a championship contender? Either they're good enough and they'll play like it or they aren't and they won't.

Personally I think the leap from being a "feel good, Cinderella story" team to a "push you down and steal your lunch money" team is very hard to make and it'll be interesting to see if the Blazers have it in them to build on what they started last year.

Dame will be fine. He worked harder than he ever has this offseason on conditioning, strength training, & cut soda/junk food out of his diet because he's focussed on being "elite". His slow start is surprising, but temporary. Guaranteed.

Only concern to me is closing out games. Can't rely on ball movement to get good looks when the game slows down. Even the Spurs have Parker & Ginobli to bail them out when they need it. We need a perimeter player other than Dame that can get a shot off when a play breaks down & there's nothing there. I was hoping/still hope CJ might be that guy. Batum's versatile, Wesley grinds, & LA is one of the best PFs in the game. But good teams close out games with defense & playmakers on the perimeter who can break down a defense/get to the line. Seems like we try to close out games by posting up LA, but defenses take that away & we have to settle for long/contested jumpers. I'm keeping an eye on the degree of difficulty of the shots we give up vs the ones we get down the stretch of close games. If that continues to look uneven, I'll be worried.

The next 7 out of 9 games are at home. You want them to win now, right? Winning games will help with their confidence.

Do you not want that?
