(and no, I'm not defending the article, which I haven't read, and I'm firmly against anyone sexually abusing kids, just not seeing the outrage in any of that. Sexually abusing children is vile and needs to be stopped, if greater research and discussions helps with that I'm not seeing a problem.)

I think normalization is mostly used to refer to increasing frequency more than an adjective for a person....one might say the Catholic Church has normalized pedo behavior for centuries without holding priests accountable and thus making it a huge list of abused children growing out of their system....any studies that can help address the issue should be welcomed....but we've normalized a lot of bullshit behavior .....I was trying to point out how age discrepancies differ around the world as to what the word means....there are many countries where 18 is not the age of consent so in their case....a teen younger than an 18 year old american teen may not be defined as a victim because it's legal there. I think 18 is a proper age for consent but it's not the same everywhere

Agreed. I'm opposed to capital punishment in all cases with the possible exception of if there is no other way to protect society.

Agreed. Any adult.
However, I've read that the vast majority of people up to like 14 or 15 years of age who molest younger children actually grow out of it. Like 90 some percent.

I'm less sure of a just punishment for them. As they are very likely no longer a threat to anybody within a year or two.
