I guess I don't understand the value at all in allowing that "schtick" to continue. What does that add to the community as a whole?

IMO "schtick" is very hard to define. Many people in here have admitted to having a "schtick". Mediocre Man, jplrk, Maris, Papa G, Brianiac all have or have used some sort of "schtick".

I guess I did not mind him..he almost had a point about how we allowed ourselves to get into a position where a last min 3 made the difference in the game

no, I think more accurately, he likes the burgers just fine, and is bitching to the manager about the workers spitting on his otherwise tasty burger, and the manager acts as if there's the potential for the spit to actually add to the burger in some way. Only when the spit produces actual phlegm does the manager then stop the ruining of said burgers.

Again, since I've been mod the focus has always been on no personal insults. That changed since the Timbertroll invasion to No Personal Insults and No Posting Pictures of Oden's penis. While he might have been "trolling" I wasn't sure of anything he was doing was ban worthy so I asked other staff including the owner of S2 what they thought. Nate, Ed O and Denny all got back to me right away. We decided to keep an eye on him and while he was "trolling" it was harmless and he wasn't insulting members here at S2.

As soon as a staff member saw him cross that line he was immediately banned.

No, he's demanding that we IP ban and the staff does not have the capability to IP ban. Only the admins can do that.

Listen guys, I maybe a bit of a smart ass but I honestly try to be a very good mod. I try to be very fair. But remember, I was voted in to be a mod. I wasn't appointed like some. If you guys think I'm a bad mod and it's time to get someone else in here that will do a better job I'm fine with that. If you want to put to vote me continuing to be a mod I'd understand. I like this forum, I like the people in this forum. But if I'm only making things worse then lets vote and make a change.

I think we should vote to make a change to the "policy" regarding obvious trolls with no intent of having any calm, intelligent conversations about basketball. How about we vote for the ability for the mods to IP ban too.

I'm bitching about the mods being stupid, and I'm certainly not trolling. If everyone just lets it go it'll happen again and again, and it shouldn't. Obviously the majority of posters disagree with the "policies" regarding trolls and the lack of ability to effectively ban them.

I'm happy with the modding. I think you all do a good job handling the timbertrolls and I approve of the policies you've been following leading up to banning. I find some of the responses to the trolls worse than the initial trolling.
