The best trade you can come up with

Well, I just posted in the other thread, so I won't bother to repost the link, but basically if you'll take JJ I'm certainly cool with it as a Bulls fan.

The other problem is that you can't take back his salary without giving up Cunningham or Pendergraph too.

Also, I see no real logic to taking on JJ's $1.7M (or really, anyone) for Rudy. You guys are pretty stacked depth wise as most every position. So whomever you get back is pretty unlikely to play much. Given that fact, why take back a guy who's going to get paid a bunch of money. If you take a future #1, it could turn out to be a useful player, and it's also one that causes no problems now.

I'd take JJ witha pick, but as you mentioned, it doesn't work financially. And I don't like having to add someone in for him. Seems to be a similar problm with the three teams we are talking to. Gibson is about the only $$ fit on Chicago. Avery bradley on Boston. And Walker and Douglas on NY. I see no reason to add anyone from there except Gibson, and I am pretty sure Chicago says no to that. So it goes to adding mroe in, or picks. Chicago has a future first from Charlotte. It is protected top 14 in 2012, top 12 in 2013, top 10 in 2014, top 8 in 2015, unprotected in 2016. So either they make the playoffs, and we end up with a mediocre pick in 2012, or we don't see an actual lotto pick for a long time. Well, decent lotto, anyways. I guess it's better than nothing, but it'd certainly feel like nothing.

Knicks pick is worthless. Won't see that one until 2013 at the earliest. Unless they can trade Houston's pick if Houston swaps with them.

Boston's pick is similar. Likely a pick in the 20s. At least with their pick, we can hope like hell for injuries to Pierce and Rondo and Garnett, and watch it slip into the lottery. More reason to root against Boston. Yuck.

Personally, I think the Blazers should tell Rudy's agent that if Rudy is starter quality as he purports, then find us a starter or lottery pick for him.

Wouldn't that be tampering? Oh right it only matters if a Superstar is coming to Portland. Got it.

That's about what I get to. I don't see any player based deals that help, so you're better of choosing from the best of whatever future picks might be offered. Not a sexy deal, but at the same time, it's the sort of deal that netted Rudy in the first place.

Where would there be tampering in that?

Agent talking to other teams about trades. I guess he would have permission so never mind. That memo yesterday really has me fuming.

I watched James Johnson play in Summer League.

Trust me, we don't want him.

Well, he said "Personally, I think the Blazers should tell Rudy's agent that if Rudy is starter quality as he purports, then find us a starter or lottery pick for him."

Sounds like in his scenario, the agent is getting direction and permission from the Blazers to look for that trade. No conspiracy. No Stern allowing tampering. There is no tampering in that situation.

Rudy for Omer Asik works for me. He was our draft pick anyway, and he's really good.
