I thought Sheed would spend his whole career here and win multiple rings before hangin' his jersey in the rafters and eventually becoming the head coach.

I thought Pippen would be our head coach someday. I *wanted* it.

I was wrong when I thought Jamal Crawford would help get us back to the playoffs.

I thought McMillan would get to finish his 8 years under contract, and thus be among the 20 longest-lasting NBA coaches with the same team.

Damn. We'd have to have a really good assistant coach that is good at taking over the reins a ton when Sheed gets tossed out of half our games.

Even beyond that idea, I secretly wanted Sheed to become the next Joey Crawford, the head ref in the NBA...ball don't lie!

I truly believe Ruben Patterson should have been a bouncer in every Spike Lee movie made that starred Delroy Lindo!

I was truly amazed we got anything at all for Raymond Felton

I was wrong when we signed Lopez, I just thought Paul Allen was adding another white person to threaten to put in the game as a motivational tool. I think he learned from Babbitt that using whitey as a motivational tool does not work.

Nolan Smith would have been an all star until he got benched for Babbitt. Elliot Williams was so embarrassed by Luke playing over him that he repeatedly injured himself to avoid the shame.

I thought last year that Freeland was a waste of a roster space (and cap space). I thought Aldridge didn't really have the mental toughness to become a better rebounder, defender, leader and clutch player.

I really thought Elliott Williams was going to take that next step "once he got healthy" He just seemed to have "it"

I was wrong about Greg Oden and Brandon Roy. I thought they'd lead us to the NBA finals.

"Never before in my years of calling basketball games have I seen a referee call a technical on another referee!"

Side note - I do know for a fact that an umpire has thrown out an umpire. Not in the professional ranks, but still. That's pretty fantastic.

I was wrong for not participating in more discussions here.

Also wrong for holding on to the Oden myth for too long. :sigh:

I had NO idea Robin Lopez was this good. Was kind of bummed we had to include Withey in the trade for him...
While I still think Withey could become a Joel Freeland type solid (backup) Center, The Lopez trade turned out to be an amazing steal!

Agreed, by Many!

TUALATIN – When the Trail Blazers acquired Robin Lopez last summer, he was seen as a big man who would come in and do the dirty work – fighting for rebounds, setting screens, contesting and blocking shots and so on.

But Lopez also has surprised many by providing Portland with something unexpected: scoring. Even coach Terry Stotts admits that Lopez is a more effective scorer than he thought he was getting.

“He’s a better midrange shooter than I expected, he’s a better finisher around the basket,” Stotts said. “His pursuit of the offensive rebounds isn’t something we’ve talked about or emphasized, but he’s been terrific at that all year. Free throw shooting has been very good.

“In many ways, he’s better than I expected.”
