You have to admit that going to the media would just look like overkill. The more likely solution is for Cronin to be telling every front office that inquires about the pick exactly what you're saying to go to the media about. I think that would ring more true.

My hot take:
The Blazers are not building around Lillard.
They've traded vets for youngins + flexibility. All of the rumors seem to indicate that the Blazers are trying to use their assets on younger players (28 yo Grant, 24 yo OG, ....). This is not how you build around a soon-to-be 32 yo.

I am not saying they intentionally built around him, but the end result is basically the same for Phoenix as it would be for us.
To me, the key is finding a youngster at least as good as Dame like Chris has Devon.
Can Simons turn into that guy over the next year or two? If so, this seems like a solid, two way plan if building around Dame doesn’t work.
