The Brilliance of the Evan Turner Signing: Creating Catch and Shoot Opportunities for Our Shooters

Absolutely not.

Huge difference between these two responses no?

"So he's going to become an embarrassment to the franchise and get in trouble with the law? I can see that, I guess. I'm assuming you don't mean his play because I can't think of two more different players. Zach is an un-athletic, EXTREMELY skilled, low post scorer. Vonleh is uber athletic and has virtually no low post game to speak of"

"Well their on-court games and tools couldn't be much more different, so you must be suggesting that Vonleh is going to form 'Hoops Family II"

If you think they are the same response, then we read and internalize much differently than one another. His first comment/question is about off the court issues. If maybe he would have said he thinks they are so different on the court, he would ask me to explain my assumption. Not ask questions trying to lure me in.
There's the rub. I don't think he was trying to lure you in at all. All perception on your part. (And by the way, if he was trying to lure you in, it worked...)

And no, I don't see any difference between what he posted and my revision of it, other than the order of mocking/legitimate response. I've even color-coded for easy reference. To me, they're basically the same.

Not at all. But in my mind, if you know how he responds when he's "called out", and you choose to call him out anyway knowing how he will respond, then you are as responsible for the response as he is, since you knew it was coming. To me, it would be like me disagreeing with your opinion on a player and then being annoyed by a 12-paragraph response. It's what you do.

Suddenly, I feel like I'm in a GEICO commercial...

I don't suffer fools easily. When someone posts something I think is asinine, I call them out, regardless of who they are. I just find some posters more consistently asinine than others.

But, it doesn't always require a long post to point out this behavior. My only long posts in this thread are actually about Evan Turner and the benefits he'll bring to this team. You know, completely on topoc and hopefully relevant.

Back to my original thought. that was so heavily twisted and scrutinized of which I got heat for joining the twisting.....

I see Vonleh as providing the same type of numbers Randolph did. Maybe slightly less, but I also see Vonlehs D being much better than Randolph potentially... because I think Vonleh is quicker.
Just the eye test so far and I am comparing Vonleh of now to Zach of the last 7 years, because that's the most time I've seen him play.
So maybe I should say I could see Vonleh becoming what Randolph is/was for Memphis.
I don't think he will be as good of a post player, but he will have a better outside shot, he will reek havoc in the paint on D and be able to run the court.
He will provide a PF impact to our team that we haven't really since since him ( Not considering LMA)

That's all i'm trying to say. If you want to disagree fine, but don't bring up off the court issues because it really is irrelevant and an attempt to derail the convo.
It's only right that we have a stud PF--it's kind of the way of this franchise. Lucas, Buck, Cliffy, Sheed, Zach, Aldridge--stud power forwards are absolutely more the norm than the exception in Portland. Vonleh should be proud to (hopefully) be part of such a proud lineage.

Which is all well and good--completely your prerogative. Just seems disingenuous to me to provoke an expected response, and then complain about the result of said provocation.

My two cents.

we read in different colors then. The order in which it was typed is a huge difference in the level of mockery or trolling in my opinion. HE didn't approach his post with a rational start.
Either way isn't it about how its perceived, not how it was said?

I can say I'm the coolest due on this site, but if everyone perceives that as being egotistical and thus not true, or simply incorrect, then aren't I egotistical because that's the perception, regardless of the whether some people think i'm cool or not?

This is a forum of which I have admittedly been guilty of as well, but perception is all we have here. Cant hear tone of voice, or volume, so all we have left is how you put your words together in type. So to put some obnoxious question first and for most in the response is to me, much different than asking rational questions about how I came to my opinion and then maybe tossing the off the court stuff out there as a side note... much like you did.

Im not perfect and probably worse than most around here at how I bring my point of view when it comes to being tolerable and clear, but I still understand its way important to be understood correctly around here.

I didn't complain about his responses once. I just kept calling him out when he said he didn't compare their off court behavior when he clearly did. It may have been tongue-in-cheek, but he was the one that started the whole nonsensical, unfounded, off court comparison bullshit.

Perception is all we have, and our perceptions are all subject to the biases we bring to the table. Some people tend to presume everyone's post to be completely serious and literal. Some bring an adversarial bias to their perception of posts. My bias is to generally give people the benefit of the doubt, and to interpret people's posts in the best reasonable light. Honestly, it makes this place much more enjoyable. Except for BGD's posts--not a whole lot I can do with those...

I agree. However my history with MM has not been very positive or light. My perception is he often makes comments that seem to be trying to get under another's skin.

It's not something that even bothers me, other than I am quicker than I should be to try to join that type of party. :)

My perception may be completely wrong, but it is my perception, none the less.

Maybe I should change my name to The Tick?

It's been light for me. You aren't taking any of this seriously are you?

Not at all. But some people think I do more than I am I think and that's on me. :), I still think you enjoy making suspect/controversial statements, knowing you will get the passionate ones like me to bite. Do I hold a grudge though?
Hell no. Like you said. Life's too short. That's why I refuse to use the ignore button. I might miss a very good post from you in the next ten minutes.

Honeslty, the only really truly annoying thing is how you constantly use the victim role of personal attacks though and make big deals out of those when they really arent.
That's pretty damned annoying. But nothing I cant get over.

Edit one then edit all, or don't edit any at all.

I welcome the insults. I really couldn't care less. However, Mine get edited, so everyone's should get edited.

At any rate, I encourage you both to continue to misinterpret each others comments, fail to listen to each other once the initial comment has been clarified, and to overreact in general to anything the other types.

Continue?! What the hell do you mean, "continue"? I don't misinterpret people's comments, and I sure as hell don't overreact to people! Where are you getting this crap?! You know, it's posts like these that abso-friggin-lutely ruin a forum like this. If I weren't so hell-bent on not using the ignore feature, I would ignore you just for this post. Then I'd create another userid and ignore you on that one, just so I could ignore you twice!

Im pretty sure he meant MM and I, but then I'm probably overreacting to your post based on my missinterpretation of your intent of sarcasm. :)

I don't understand why the people who seem to constantly complain and challenge my posts don't put me on ignore. Life is too short

You were, for quite a while, along with Mixum and PapaG (but he kept changing his username). They were both banned so I removed them and you from my ignore list, during your long absence.

Still, I am a fan of the team which means I support the players (unless they pull a Raymond Felton and organize a mutiny). So, I do like to present a counterpoint to anyone who constantly bashes our players in this forum (I also call out Tunchi for his Lillard bashing, for example, and used to go around and round with PapaG for his non-stop bashing of Andre Miller). I'm not a clueless homer, but I look for the positive aspects in our players. And try to portray that in my posts. Like everyone else here, my opinions are just that - opinions. But, I do try to back them up with supporting data when possible.

Now, if Vonleh could become Sheed, that would be ideal. Not sure anyone is going to reach his Tech total though.

I know your posts, OB, and you tend to get a bit more fired up than most. MM's response to you was pretty tame, honestly. IMO, you misinterpreted his meaning and went overboard, based primarily on your impression of the poster rather than the post.

Let me ask you this. If I had replied to your post by saying "Well their on-court games and tools couldn't be much more different, so you must be suggesting that Vonleh is going to form 'Hoops Family II'...", would you have reacted as strongly to me as you did to MM?

You know. There is somethign here that I think all should know. Mostly you, cause you have me misperceivedas gettingworked up more than I really am.

My animation on here is mostly @SlyPokerDog 's fault. See a long time ago, he told me the Blazers love it when we argue on here because the post counts skyrocket. From that moment on, I have tried to add more drama so to speak, than what comes naturally for me. Trying to spice up life around here. :)

My behavior on here is all spawned by Sly. If you don't like it, bitch at him! ;)

Bitch, don't insult.

I believe that. If MM is the tick, Sly is the puppet-master.

You should put me back on ignore

You should put me back on ignore

That's my call to make, not yours. As I said, I like to present a more positive counterpoint to the constant bashing of some of the players on our team by certain posters.

Right now, I have no one on ignore. If the forum starts to get busier, I may have to selectively trim the fat, but I'm fine with the way things are right now.

IMHO, because when non-derogatory, your posts are of high quality. Guess you got to take the good with the bad in life.
