Apparently around NBA circles nobody believes Bynum will get more than a one-year deal.

Worth the risk?

They must be talking no max deal for more than one year. Obviously someone will give him a multi year for much less. I dislike him but yeah he is worth some risk. But someone will give him more than 10 for at least 2 years.

I would still be scared. Bynum isn't much better than just taking back oden. Obviously Bynum is a champion; but he's just as injury prone. I don't know what I would do if he went down with a season ending injury!!!

We'd play Leonard and JO til he came back. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. But if he DIDN'T get hurt, it would be the BEST thing in the world.

I'm glad people are slowly warming to the Bynum idea. He is our only hope to be a contender that is out there.

I just read this and spit out my coffee! LAWL!

I have my doubts that Damian Lillard can become more than a 3rd or 4th guard in the NBA. At best I see him as an instant offense player off a bench who can fill it up and run the offense semi-effectively for short stretches. At worst he’s just a gunner who doesn’t have the passing or defensive chops to get consistent court time. I wouldn’t use a lottery pick on him and I certainly wouldn’t draft him if a player with the upside of Waiters or Wroten were still on the board."

I think the Sixers gave up so much to get him, they're going to buy into the sunk cost fallacy and overpay to make sure they keep him.

Here's a name for you: Kyle Hines. I've mentioned him elsewhere, but as this is about centers, and that's where he plays...

He's very under-heighted (6'6"!) but built like a brick shithouse with Close Encounters-like arms. Think of him as a young Chuck Hayes. He's spent the years since going undrafted working up the ranks in Euro basketball, to the point where he's been arguably the MVP of the back-to-back European champion Olympiacos. He's always going to be looked down on (pun intended) as a starting center, but he kicked the ass of MVP candidate and former Celtics and Thunder player Krstic, and he's everything that Meyers Leonard isn't, so maybe they can complement each other. Plus, he'd probably come cheap, AND he'd be a buddy to help transition his teammate Kostas Papanikolaou into American life.

As you might imagine, his game doesn't really lend itself to highlight videos, but here he is blocking future Chicago Bull Mirotic in the Euroleague final:

WTF? Did I really write that? I have serious doubts, as I have never claimed to follow or have any knowledge of NCAA hoops. And leading up to the draft I was pretty dead-set against all of the SGs (outside of Lamb, who I wouldn't have taken at #6) and didn't even know who Wroten was.
SO - if I did indeed write this, please show me where. Otherwise, please don't connect me to such trash.

No, you didn't, a guy on realgm did during the draft coverage last year. You must have pasted that part and now someones incorrectly attributing the quote to you.

I wonder how he's going to look this time around.

The last MF comeback he looked/moved like Kendrick Perkins.

I want a defensive enforcer for a starting center. Bynum can be a defensive presence when healthy, but I can't seem him as an enforcer given how frail he is.

There aren't many out there. Chandler certainly looked a step slower this season. Sanders is a great weak-side shot locker but I wouldn't call him an enforcer. Drummond fits that description but obviously he's not available.

Not sure if Chandler looked a step slower because of regression or injuries. I know he had a neck injury.

Doubt NY trades him anyways

I'm at the point where I'd give up LMA AND #10 for Drummond and scraps.

I have zero desire to deal LMA but it he voiced at all the desire to be traded Drummond would be my target as well. If he feels that way I just hope LMA doesnt keep quiet about wanting to be traded until its too late to get something good if it comes to that.

Call me a homer, over valuer, or whatever you want, but for an Aldridge package, I want Drummmond + Greg Monroe. I'm going to the trade machine right now. ;)

The Portland Trail Blazers are always on the rise, or so it seems. For the past half decade or so, they have been the young team full of promise. However, unlike the Oklahoma City Thunder, the youth hasn’t paid off.

In recent seasons, the Trail Blazers have taken steps back and have failed to make the playoffs in consecutive seasons. A little veteran presence and help on the interior might be a welcomed addition.

The trade at their disposal: Pau Gasol for Nicolas Batum, Joel Freeland and Meyers Leonard.

Portland gets a big man to play next to LaMarcus Aldridge who can complement his skills for a season. Potentially, Gasol can re-sign with the Trail Blazers after the end of the 2013-14 season, or Portland can let him walk and have just about $20 million in cap space to spend on free agents.

The Lakers on the other end receive a young and athletic Batum to play both forward spots and stretch the floor. Leonard and Freeland would get redirected elsewhere and give the team a little financial flexibility.

Batum is under contract until the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, but his acquisition does not hinder the team’s future plans.

Depending on where the salary cap figure is set when the 2014 offseason kicks off, the Lakers should be able to offer a max-level contract. In the event their player commitments are too large, they can trade away Steve Nash.

Soooo give those players to the Fakers while we work with 2 paper soft "bigs", neither of which wants to play Center? Nor does it address the need of having a defensive presence in the middle? Well, that's bleacher report for you.

The ONLY advantage to that would be the cap space for next summer on what is supposed to be a good free agent market but thats a pretty big gamble
