DAMN really? Are people really overrating Plumlee so much that they don't want us to go after him?
I think people are undervaluing whiteside, and overvaluing plumlee. But they could play together and they're pretty much opposites so I don't understand the bitching by everyone.

Whiteside is a very good basketball player but the comparison to DeAndre is also good because he, like Jordan, has a very low BBIQ.
I'm actually not sure about either of their bb iq's. Sometimes they do things and I think their amazing, and other times they do things that leave me scratching my head. But I know this, deandre is worth every penny that the clippers spent on him, and whiteside (in my opinion) is just as good, if not, better than deandre. Plus whiteside is actually showing real signs of offensive talent. If we're gonna start dame and cj, we need whiteside, or a prime Orlando Howard.

Damian(PG) - McCollum(SG) - Aminu(SF) - Vonleh(PF) - Whiteside(C) cures many ills.
I would HATE to see both Aminu and Vonleh in the starting unit again. Only one - at most - should be starting, and ideally neither. If either one is starting, we need two new starters at the other front-court positions.

You must be comfortable with just making the playoffs every year.

I see what your doing. Ill semi bite....

Uhhh no... I think we made the playoffs this year and I think the bulk of the roster will be improved next year. Then we can assess the holes and fill the gaps to improve for the following years to come.

Nice try though....

And hey. If we make the playoffs for the next 5 straight seasons but dont win it all will I be upset? Hell know. We have a winning team and a winning culture. Do you know how hard it is to win a ring???

You must find a little more to keep you happy or your going to be nothing but unhappy with the team....

Again... nice try kiddo! ;)

Plumlee would be in the running for sixth man of the year every year we still had him if we got Whiteside, and he would be a very valuable trading piece. I bet he's worth more than a late first round player like RHJ now.

For those of you that are so high or low on Whiteside, why? I've only seen highlights and box scores. Does he pass the eye test? How's his BBIQ?

He can make plays... Though at times it looks like he's in high school with the boneheaded things he does.
He doesn't have very good lateral foot speed like DJ/Shaq/Noel. He's closer to Nards on terms of lateral quickness... Maybe Pryzbilla..
But 100% not elite like the first three players I mentioned.
He has a couple more moves than DJ does in the post but it's far from polished. At times he goes soft to the rim instead of using his power/size to dominate. Lobs though he does go hard every time.

Personally you could do worse. But I'm not sure he's a guy that deserves max. or is the missing piece.

Plumlee, aside from game three against the Warriors, has been our best player.

This position is fine.

PF is a HUGE hole right now. Vonleh is a project and Aminu is a backup on a playoff team.

Horford would be ideal.

Plum in game 2 made whole bunch bonehead plays. Yes in the 1st series he play great because how they play us. He just not big or strong enough against Golden State. This off season he has to get stronger. I'm not saying he bad player because he not he just need to get stronger.

I am not sure on Whiteside he might be a type of player to get big contract and stop showing on the court. So I would very cautious on him. Does he have alot ability yes he does but when he gets the money where will his head be. Will he earn it or just collect and stop playing.

Maybe sign and trade Crabbe, Meyers, and CLE 1st for Noel? They need a wing and a big that could play next to Embiid and Okafor. Would save us cap space for the next couple summers.

Sign and trades are virtually useless, especially to Philly who has in excess of 60 million in caproom. They can just make huge offer sheets to both players.

And if they don't give us Noel then we'll match.

Maybe substitute Aminu for Crabbe or Meyers.

You can't use Crabbe or Myers in trade at this time due to both of the restrictive free agent.

Didn't we have a whole thread about Whiteside?
The general consensus is that he blocks a shit-ton of shots, but that's because he goes for EVERYthing. He also has a "historically bad" assist rate which kind of makes him a bad fit for any Stotts offense.
That was something that was said by a couple people that had never watched him play. That "consensus" was bullshit. Whiteside is elite. Especially defensively. Hands down. Anyone that tries to say otherwise is literally fucking retarded.

I think there is a center to be had from Philly this offseason.
Okafor. He might be a project defensively. But if teams are going to hard double Lillard, Okafor is a player who you could rely on to take advantage of that.

Davis/Crabbe + a 1st rd pick would prolly get it done.
Make it happen Neil.

We obviously need depth.

I'd seriously look at Jan Vasley. He's no longer trying to be a stretch SF/PF tweener - he has developed into a center.

He'd be near the top of my list as far as realistic bigs go.

Convincing him to leave that situation to be a backup in the NBA might be tough though.

Interesting idea, Fez. Vesely would be an intriguing fit in our system, he's the right age, he's kind of Mason with the potential to generate a lot more offensively. But how is he as a rebounder and defender?

Still, pretty inventive thought.

I agree about Whiteside. He will get a big contact though and a lot of teams will be after him.

pretty sure the team that has to sign the player in a S&T can only trade that player and not multiple players.
I don't see why not. Is that a cap rule?

for me the lesson from this GS series is that we can't have our C's be so offensively inept unless they are a very serious defensive force. Mason would make a very good off the bench C

I seem to remember hearing his name before but don't know anything about him. However, watching this video would be enough to make him the starter on this current roster.

The Blazers have several backup big men. They need a center. Either go get a Boogie or Horford or Howard, or failing that make Meyers a center. But we'd better be better at the center position by next year's playoffs or we're not going anywhere.
