El queso es viejo y mohoso, ¿Dónde está el baño, Neil?

This team is starting to feel a lot like the pre-Roy days when Z-Bo was the franchise guy.

At what point do you look to make a big trade to get Dame help?

Or, at what point do you blow up this team? IMO, this team is more than one major piece away from contending. Does Marc Gasol vault this team?

Neil can't sit around and waste another year of Dame's prime.

Trade is definitely in the works....I've no doubt...I'd say Mo and Meyers know they're leavin'..we could shop them for picks and rookie contracts and bring up our G league guys ...sky's the limit
There's no other reason to have 20 million committed to the end of the bench

Nobody's giving us picks for either of those guys.

We don't have enough assets to get where we really need to go. The only way (IMO) is to be extremely creative in adding more bad salary (i.e. Joakim Noah, Bismack Biyombo, Omer Asik, etc.) in 2 or 3 team trades and get rewarded for our efforts with draft pick(s). Since our cap is fucked up until Turner comes off the books, those contracts won't stop us from moving forward and would increase our asset collection.

That's the only way we can increase our assets right now. Harkless and Leonard are fetching a mid-late 2nd round pick at best, and that's even if a team wants to deal with paying either of those guys $10M a year.

I wonder if the Celtics would take CJ for the Laker pick they own this year? It only sticks if the Lakers are picking 2-5, so smaller chance we get the pick this summer. Otherwise, the pick turns into the Kings 2019 pick, which is likely lottery.

By themselves...no, but they are definitely on the block with whatever assets they put together...at least that's how I see it...teams will value them for different reasons and more than likely you'd have to take back some salary as well..and I'm not sayin' one team is taking both these guys on...that's probably not happening but trades are around the corner and if not...we're waiving a white flag

We are one piece to be really good. A Sf position. Aminu is good bench player. What kill us is Evan turner... he doesn't fit our system

Who would they trade back to match salaries? They have Kyrie, Smart, Rozier, and Brown at the guard spots. They wouldn't trade for CJ.

Anybody else here a fan of chess? This roster is feeling a lot like a match where it was lost about 5 moves ago on a couple of blunders and all that's left is to frantically contemplate dead-end moves, that all put you in check.

Given their contractual obligations this could be about as good as it gets for awhile, short of some "savior" in the draft.

I'm a chess fan....two things...your opponent makes 3 blunders in 5 moves or you get a couple pawns to become queens .....as it is we're down to a couple of rooks, a bishop and a queen

You nailed it with the Zbo franchise player days reference.. It def does feel like that. Useless era

The cheese-chess analogy is getting moldy. Nikolokolus described our beloved team in terms of a chessboard, so you described a chessboard in terms of our beloved message board. I'll be the bishop.

This is fantastic:
You as a bishop
HCP as a Knight (always next to the rooks)
Sly as the King (nominally in charge, but generally pretty useless)

I'm, uh, gonna stop here...but we could be going places...

That would make Olshey a castle....can only move laterally

Don't know if anyone else appreciated the "Encino Man" reference, but I did.

You've earned cool-points for that one.

Bump!

Without Dame, how is this team any better than bottom-dwellers like the Hawks and Magic?

With Dame, this team is a treadmill.

Neil's seat should be getting a little warm.

Actually, I was thinking of HCP when I read "rook."

Nice "Encino Man" reference.
