Unlike PapaG I'm not afraid to admit that I enjoy racing. I don't watch it every weekend but I like the big races.

I think it's hilarious that the press is going nuts over Danica. I bet she gets spun out within the first 25 laps.

yes post here.. I want to see all the soccer bashers who enjoy racing are muahahhahah

Good race. I'm really surprised at how well Danica did.

Fucking Biffle should have won.

Let's see...

Bobby Labonte (my favorite driver) finishes respectably? Nice.
Jimmy Johnson (the first Hendrick driver I didn't hate) wins? Acceptable.
Junior (my second favorite driver) finishes second? Sweet.
Kyle Busch AND Juan Montoya crash? YES!

All in all, a pretty darned good race.

Hasn't the press been going nuts over her for a while now? Does she win?

Sounds like she held her own, didn't make any dumb mistakes to blow up the field, but didn't really know how to finish the race. Experience matters, but she appears to be legitimate.

I still shake my head that I lived in The ATL for 12 years - within 4 hours of about 5 major NASCAR racetracks - yet never made it to one race.

Going to Daytona with my grandfather was always fun as a kid!

I went to a couple races at Riverside Speedway when I was really young. My dad would park the RV around back where we could see the esses, and we'd wave signs at his friend (and Saugus Speedway driver), Jimmy Insolo. I remember getting pissed every time someone drove through the dirt and threw up a cloud of dust because I couldn't tell which car was which. I think I still have a autographed picture or two of Jimmy's #38...
