Politics The Democratic Convention Nobody Watched

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Good to know the Democratic Party set their bar so high that being competitive wy America's Got Talent gives all if you shivers. Meanwhile POTUS TRUMP'S saving the world for 5 more years. #walkaway2020

I wasn't getting shivers over anything. I was posting factual and accurate information, something that is foreign to you.

Fox News raves Joe Biden's speech was 'enormously effective,' 'a home run'

Joe Biden's presidential nomination acceptance speech is being hailed as a career best, even by his critics. And perhaps no praise was more surprising on Thursday night than that being directed at him on Fox News.

Anchor Chris Wallace, who previously panned Kamala Harris' vice presidential nomination speech, called Biden's big moment "enormously effective." "Remember, Donald Trump has been talking for months about Joe Biden as mentally shot," Wallace went on. He added, "I thought that he blew a hole — a big hole — in that characterization. … Trump is gonna have to run against a candidate, not a caricature."

Commentator Brit Hume also praised Biden's speech, calling it "very good" and "delivered with force and clarity." His colleague, Dana Perino shared the view, saying Biden "just hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth … He had pace, rhythm, energy, emotion, and delivery. I think if he looks back, he's got to say that was probably the best speech of his life."

Karl Rove added that Biden's speech was an "excellent end" to the convention, calling the former VP's remarks "very good."

you do realize there's a pandemic going on, right?
.

Yes, practically everyone in America is at home watching TV, but nobody tuned in for the Democratic Party rehashing their 3 years of blaming POTUS TRUMP for their decades-long failures across the board and their 3 years of trying to claim credit for POTUS TRUMP'S record breaking accomplishments for the benefit of all Americans. Repeating universally-debunked lies and pretending they have suddenly decided to do exactly the opposite of what they always done. Only an illiterate and willful idiot could possibly still vote for the Deep State Democratic Party puppet duo they're shoving down your throat. #walkaway2020

Biden was pretty good tonight, I thought. A well written speech, well delivered.

All in all, a fairly entertaining convention. Should be interesting to see how next week goes.

I just finished watching Joe's speech on youtube...it was great....

Obama's advisors.....zero indictments..zero convictions
Trump's advisors.....seventy-three indictments...seventy-three convictions
One administration has a clean record...the other...is a shit show, but you know that

As dull and uninspiring as tonight's game was, it still had more excitement than this worst-ever political convention. The Hidin' Biden campaign is already circling the drain.

Lol. Rachel lied to you.

It might sway them away. Having awesome guests like the Clintons on the same day photos get leaked of Bill getting a massage from an Epstein victim. Lol, solid PR move.

Oh and don’t forget about the rapist/murderer mentioned above. You can’t make this shit up.

I’ll take the crazy my pillow guy over this cast of comic book villains any day.
Here's the baggage you get to take - a ton of felons and soon to be felons unless they get pardoned for their federal crimes.

you just nailed our political issues on the head

instead of the masses of voters actually wanting to be as informed as possible on all sides, they fall in line with thier party Nd close eyes and ears to anything else.

what i find hilarious is the percent of people who just know with all certainty they are on the right side when they refuse to listen to the other side.

its this stance that is basically destroying everything.
Trump brings that out in us rational voters.

or maybe nincompoops dont subscribe to media driven ideals and messages and would rather hear it from the horses mouth in its entirety?
Maybe some people aren so gulli le as to believe the media leanings and form an opinion off of them because maybe some of the nincompoops know most of the news out there is slanted, edited, twisted to fit a narrative?

so maybe the only nincompoops are the people who have solidified their stance off of media buy instead of the horses mouth?

maybe the nincompoops are the only ones smart enough to know they will never know everything so they wont take a stance until rhey gather up all available info? Whoch means waiting until the end in case new info comes out?

Sorry, but i believe its your statement that is flawed. The vitriol of many when faced with a differing opinion kinda supports my opinion over yours.

your very name calling of those who prefer to wait until the end to form an opinion solidifies my opinion and negates yours.
Solidifying your news by twitter and Facebook is incredibly stupid.

Look, the point of this entire thread is that the democratic viewership is low compared to, as an example, 2016. This, juxtaposed against the mantra of the left claiming this might be the most crucial election of our lifetime. I might expect that the dem masses might actually like to see what their leadership id trotting out..

https://reason.com/2020/08/20/americans-rightly-tune-out-to-democratic-national-convention/

The national conventions long ago stopped being a place where any real news might happen or where unscripted events would reveal something authentic or telling. The shift to online-only underscores the reality that the DNC and RNC are infomercials pitched to the parties' bases rather than events designed to reach out to uncommitted voters. The rest of us will simply have to bide our time for a more substantive discussion of the country's uncertain future. It's not clear when or whether we'll have presidential debates but if we do, they will certainly go a long way to settling questions about the mental acuity of Trump and Biden. And they might actually put some electricity into an election surprisingly devoid of energy despite the hyperbolic rhetoric of partisans declaring it (yet again!) as the most-important election in our lifetime.
One only need look at the polls, unless, of course, you prefer to wait until November when it's too late.

you wont get anyone one here to admit this was wrong. Bunch old farts in the OT with “years of political experience” to solidify their opinions as the only ones that are correct.
They demean anyone who disagrees with them as being idiots or nincompoops, but simultaneously call you condescending when you simply rebute the initial demeaning statement.
You should go the road of Mags. There isnt anything your gonna post in here that will get people to actually comment impartially about this

Paid crisis actors!

OMG Lanny that's my point. Again did you read the thread?

I commented that I will want to watch the conventions to continue to solidify my decision. I was told that I'm a nincompoop for being undecided. The only way to be decided currently is by believing twitter and facebook.

I'm arguing i'm NOT making a final decision based off of hearsay news twisted to fit a narrative. And I got called a nincompoop for it. Then when I countered I was told I was condescending.

I swear to God I don't think many of you read what you are commenting on, let alone recognize what you are even writing....

And then when I called the person who said I was condescending out on his initial demeaning response, its crickets.

Some of you have Got to start learning to take responsibility for your hypocrisy.(not you specifically Lanny), or you will just be considered a grumpy old fart.

GET OFF MY LAWN!

I cant take anyone seriously when they basically say i'm a nincompoop for not having come to a decision, but when I say thats arrogant, im told im condescending?

I mean really GTFO with that nonsense....((again, not you specifically Lanny)

Last I heard, the gap was shrinking and is actually smaller than it was between Trump and Clinton at this point in time in 2016.

@Orion Bailey - I clearly offended you, name-called, and crossed a line, so I sincerely apologize.

The point I was trying to make is that your constant call for people to be open minded assumes people are not open minded, and so I said that seemed condescending. I can have an opinion about politics and still be open minded, just like anyone can about anything. I didn't like Myers Leonard but hey! I hoped I was wrong about that. :)

But re: Trump - no, I am not open-minded. I find him beyond repugnant and now, a real threat to our democracy. And yes, I can't understand how someone could not have a strong opinion about him. But name-calling is what he does, not what I do, so again, my apologies.

You should get an update on that, it's not correct.

barfo

Good call. I heard that last night. I do like RCP because they use averages from a bunch of polls.

Trump was ahead a week or so ago. Let's see if the RNC convention brings a swing back his way.

But that's the thing. you didn't offend me. you annoyed me with your hypocrisy. Calling me condescending right after basically calling me a nincompoop because I said it was arrogant to call someone a nincompoop for not having made up their mind or having not solidified an opinion.

Its that crap that makes having a constructive conversation near impossible.

I took your nincompoop comment in stride, but used it to represent the other side of the coin. In response you called me condescending.

Do you not see the double standard there?

I can have a conversation full of insults, but don't tell me i'm the one insulting people when you initiated that type of conversation. That's where I draw the line, toss my hands up in the air and say. WTH??? And then any valid point you make after that goes in one ear and out the other because you weren't initially reasonable, honest or accurate with your accusations.

I don't care if you insult me, but don't call me out for insulting you back.

Edit: At any rate, Thanks for the apology.

Don't think for a second there won't be an RNC Convention thread in here....replete with major derogatory comments from the S2 masses. Book it, Danno.

you basically called me a nincompoop in your post and you say i can be condscending????.....
Lmao!!!!

this is why the OT is just a laugh...

I will die being flexible because i understand everything evolves.
Sorry if you want to continue to demean that and all the while consider me the condescending one....

you are funny though. :)
i mean you did call one of the posters the problem with politics...soooooo don’t be surprised when someone does it back

Like I then said, a lot of the country watch AGT, then tuned out the convention. Hey, you may be all ho-hum about a stinkin' convention, but enthusiasm does count. Got Trump elected the first time. I'll be interested to see the Republican convention ratings.
Fuck the republican ratings...and the crooks that got them elected

Even knowing that you mean 'ahead of where he was in 2016', not 'ahead of Biden', that is fairly misleading. Trump got a short-lived but large bounce from the convention in 2016, which was the last week in July that year. Comparing that to the same time in 2020 isn't very meaningful.

stop gaslighting. You started it by calling a poster the problem with politics lol

i mean you did call one of the posters the problem with politics...soooooo don’t be surprised when someone does it back

Lol. No I did not. Did you miss the question mark? It was a question. I suppoose I could have been more clear., but the person I was talking to seemed to understand it. I quoted my own post, then his and basically asking if he felt he was part of the problem based on what I had posted. At no time did I tell @The Professional Fan he was part of the problem.

Again , This makes me question if people actually read everything.

Wanna quote me where I called someone the problem, or where I asked if they were the problem? And you vcall me gasslighting?

Man.
HAHAHAHA

How words get twisted here is amazing.

you quoted yourself in response to him with an obvious sarcastic question, hence the three periods before the question mark
