I’m not talking about mailing it in. I’m talking about someone from Trumps side flipping on the DNC convention and being swayed. Maybe four people in the country are capable of that at this point. It just seems like the conventions are just to fire up the current base which is fine I guess but these speeches aren’t being heard by 95% of Trump voters. So what’s the point.
Ah ok, this must be what I saw earlier.
https://www.rasmussenreports.com/pu...20/19_say_a_convention_has_changed_their_vote
I guess now that I read it, it doesn't quite say what I thought it said, but I still think it's an indicator that people do get more engaged politically around the conventions.

Still real people with real thoughts...

It's real people with real thoughts, but not like a friends group in meatspace. Here, people have anonymity (which changes behavior a lot) and everyone isn't friends--some people are, certainly, but you also have people who are indifferent towards you and people who don't like you. And lastly, it's all in text, which makes tone much harder for people to discern and misunderstanings much, much more common.

So even though it's real people, it's very different from real life contexts in which you might talk to people. You shouldn't use the standards you would in real life chats with your friends, because that's going to cause you endless disappointments and the fights you're having. I expect all sorts of misunderstandings, seeming irrationalities and people just plain being jerks to the avatar of perfection that is me. I just roll with it and move on, because I know this is very different from conversations with friends, especially in the physical realm.

I guess I could see that in any other election...but things are so different now and so polarizing I just can’t imagine someone undecided at this point. Doesn’t seem possible
That's fair this is such a weird year, and politics is literally in everything it feels impossible to escape it.

I'm having issues finding it but I thought I saw earlier a study showed that 14-19% (one of those two) of likely voters wait until the conventions to make a decision.
I guess the explanation would be a lot of people don't pay attention to politics until it's time to vote.
Edit: I'm in a hurry to get out of the office I'll look this evening. If I'm wrong about that number I apologize.
I believe independents & libertarians are the fastest growing parties. There is no doubt if this continues there could always be that wild card.

I'm the grumpy old fart that gives school children the finger as they walk past my run down house on their way to school or home from school. Usually it's on their way home from school because when they head for school at 9 am I'm still asleep with a hangover from my drunken rowdiness the night before. Now excuse me, I've got to get to the store and get me a pack of unfiltered Camels and a six pack of PBS beer to go with my sweat stained T-shirt, boxer shorts, old sandals and week old stubble that I have when I sit on my rocking chair cussing and giving the finger to the small kiddies. All of which is paid for with my welfare check and some money selling dope to kids. ps My hair looks like that Trump doctor's hair. Now, you kids get the hell off my lawn! If I see you riding your little tricycles in the street one more time I'm gonna run over them with my truck. That's what I am. You're not that character that distributes free popcycles and ice cream to the little kiddies, are you? I'm your doppelganger.
You know, honeslty, that post I wrote last night and never hit send and wasnt going to post it. Butthen when I quoted someone else and commented on it, I failed to notice the original quote and post ws still in the text section and so it posted without me realizing it. Technically it wasnt meant for public consumption, but ill own it.
Definitely debatable in some cases.

Couldn't the debates potentially saw a person one way or the other?

I read the thread, and quoted the context. But I look forward to your explanation of how you didn't mean what you said.

Don't you know? @Orion Bailey wants you to read every single word in the thread, and every linked article, and get some videos and more articles to share with him, and he will then mull it all over and get back to you after deciding whether your are playing by the rules he sets up and if not, say the problem is you.

I'd prefer he's hypnotized to think he's a giant sloth and the snap back word be buried in a time capsule and opened 10 years from now...the key to the time capsule would be in Stormy Daniels possession

He is a giant sloth

Democratic convention closing night draws event's biggest TV audience

LOS ANGELES, Aug 21 (Reuters) - The closing night of the virtual Democratic National Convention attracted roughly 24.6 million primetime television viewers, the largest audience of the week, according to data from the Nielsen ratings agency.

The number covers viewership across 10 broadcast and cable networks from 10 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. Eastern time. It does not include people who watched via online platforms.

Thursday's proceedings concluded with Joe Biden accepting the Democratic Party's nomination for president in a speech delivered live from his home state of Delaware.

TV viewership was 17% lower than the night in 2016 when Hillary Clinton spoke as the party's first female presidential nominee. But the figures do not include online platforms that have jumped in popularity in the past four years as traditional TV viewership has declined.

Biden's campaign estimated there were an additional 35.5 million live streams over the convention's four days via websites and through digital platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The statement did not say for how long each viewer streamed the event.

Democrats canceled plans to convene delegates and party leaders in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, they staged a virtual event with celebrity moderators introducing live and recorded remarks from around the country.

The TV audience rose on each night of the event, with Monday's kickoff drawing 19.8 million viewers, Nielsen said.

The Republican nominating convention for President Donald Trump is next week.

The RNC will have bigger ratings.

You guys have been ridiculing anyone who isn't anti trump for a while.
So quit your bitchin about someone having a different opinion.
Sorry im besting you at your game and thats why you resort to belittling comments like this....

damn the hypocrisy reaches new levels every day.

Sorry you guys cant handle someone not thinking the same as you. Get over it. Deal with it.

if you made S2 better, would it be S3 or S1?
S2.1...with quarterly upgrades that would make everybody learn everything from scratch...the oxymoron upgrade system just so I could tell mods what to do all the time ....Bill Gates taught me well...you'll all need to purchase the virus protection I'll make available

Oh, I didn't mean my response for you in particular. I just saw something that I could interrupt for some senseless humor. Told you I was an old fart. My God, I looked at my arm yesterday and was shocked to see wrinkles. I wanted to iron my arm.

...But calling out someone for liking posts is not only lame but very attention seeking behavior. people like whatever post they want and shouldn’t be called out for being a part of the political problem for....wait for it......liking posts

Hey BTW, Curious if you have let this be known to HCP who does this often, or if this is a partisan stance?
