Anytime you promote free everything without any incentives to work, ir being productive and developing some American grit it’s going to be attractive to many. And yet her popularity keeps growing. What gives?
She's not telling people they don't have to work. She's telling people they have a right to health care. You can't restrict health care to only the wealthy.Anytime you promote free everything without any incentives to work, ir being productive and developing some American grit it’s going to be attractive to many.
Everyone knows someone who likes to chum and be part of the party but never contributes as they just spent their dollar. This people are always the ones that are real chatty and extroverted too. Always looking to free load.
Nothing wrong with working or volunteering and being productive. It does take some effort to.
I realize we need some social assistance but it has to be for those that actually need it.She's not telling people they don't have to work. She's telling people they have a right to health care. You can't restrict health care to only the wealthy.
Also, a minimum wage is not saying people don't have to work, it's just saying that they don't have to work 12 hours a day to afford food, rent, medicine.
Now, some people cannot work. You've got single mothers with infant children, mentally handicapped, medically handicapped and so on. What about the vagrants and others living on the streets? How about the drug addicts?
And no, I don't know anyone who prefers to 'chum' over working. I'm sure they're out there but I'll bet there aren't as many as you think.
And from the interviews I saw form recent conferences she's attended, she is promoting democratic socialism.
I'm sorry, but that's not socialism which prohibits the private ownership of business. The Russians, Cubans and the Chinese probably came closest. Not sure about Venezuela but it's probably in the running.I realize we need some social assistance but it has to be for those that actually need it.

Yes, let them eat cake. You say that like you think it's a bad thing. Do you favor abolishing Social Security and Medicare?

Not at all and we need programs to help those that need assistance. It just seems that there isn't enough incentive/motivation for some people (those that are capable) on assistance to get into the force and receiving a welfare check every month is the path of least resistance. If the man leaves the house you get you your welfare check and more if you have another kid. Thats ok as long as it's not a life time objective to stay on welfare. There, must be some push or incentive to get them into the work force and be productive and actually feel better about themselves. Right now there isn't. The incentive is to have more kids and keep a man put of the house. You say that like you think it's a bad thing. Do you favor abolishing Social Security and Medicare?

IMO, we need reform and breakthroughs in education, welfare policy, medical and prison reform.
Im a firm believe that learning is the heart of leaving poverty. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to Fish and you can feed him for a lifetime".
As a parent of 6 kids it was important that we coached our kids to get out on their own & stay employed and to live within their means. But, to never think you should be able all the creature comforts right away if you cannot afford them. Set financial goals work for them. We cannot be enablers for young people to want to skate and not learn to work.
I paid into SS & Medicare/Medicaid while in the work force.
Barfo, Im more of a capitalist, free/mix enterprise guy then a straight Demo socialist. One thing for sure, I am a small government guy!
I have a daughter that is a single Mom w/2 kids that could stay home & maybe collect welfare, however she wants to work which she does and sure it's tough and challenging at times and I even help out on occasion.Well, how are those welfare moms going to have time to learn if their kids can't be supported?
Conservatives rail against people who rely on social assistance, but at the same time they favor public policies that create more people who need social assistance.
You sneaky democratic socialist! Were you trying to turn the US into Venezuela?
"Socialists" in this country are all capitalists. Socialism in the US means "well, maybe we can become 1/5th as socialist as Canada, but we need to phase it in slowly." It's like debating switching to Doritos because they are healthier than Cheetos. And the response is "no, no, no, Doritos are a slippery slope towards eating only raw kale!"

Lanny, Ive never been wealthy my whole life and I worked for health care coverage. Whats is wrong with that? She's not telling people they don't have to work. She's telling people they have a right to health care. You can't restrict health care to only the wealthy.

She graduated cum laude from Boston University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics.[25][29][30]
There has always been help in this country for those in need
I never said that ss was a plot. The working person has been paying for it which is fine.I'm not sure that's true.
Social Security wasn't just a socialist plot. It came about because large numbers of old farts were in poverty and not getting help.
Similarly with Medicare and Medicaid.

You used the term socialism and I was explaining that socialism involved government take over of business.I wasn't talking about prohibiting business?
Just because you can't deduce something doesn't mean it's not logical. It just means that you can't understand it.And yet she clearly has no basic concept of economic ideologies and their implementations throughout history, nor their proven effects and consequences. She cannot explain even the most rudimentary differences between socialism and capitalism.
Maybe somebody bought her degree for her. There's really no other logical explanation for it, and that's how it's done nowadays.

He said some of the time. His explanation of all of the time meant today's Republicans.P. T. Barnum explained this phenomenon long ago.
Democratic Socialism is what I've been referring too. Its a hybrid form of capitalism with more government control through regulations. You used the term socialism and I was explaining that socialism involved government take over of business.
The word socialism doesn't belong in the expression. It implies a form of socialism which is not the case unless you want to equate swallowing food with swallowing drugs.Democratic Socialism is what I've been referring too. Its a hybrid form of capitalism with more government control through regulations.
Under Democratic socialism, the ownership of private property is limited. The government regulates the economy. I favor more decentralization and smaller government with States having more say.
Just my feelings, we may be of different beliefs on politics and /or religion and/or music and/or sports, buts that cool. Thats freedom and we respect each others point of views.

Are people wanting to come to America for the dream, and to work and be prosperous or live off the government?
I say most want to come here for the chance at prosperity and freedom offered. Thats cool!
