Out of 50 states, California's residents are only 44th most dependent on federal aid yet #1 in federal taxes per capita.

If this fool remains in power - this country will get closer to a civil war and as the first civil war proved - the ones with the money and means are going to win it, it will not end the way the stupid Nazi boys believe it will.

I know California produces some fine wines, but apparently fine whines are also exported. Income tax is supposed to tax the rich more, right? California is overall a rich state. If you want a bigger bang for your federal tax dollar, move to a podunk state.

California gets some nice income from all of the military bases in your state. Oregon gets bupkis.

I gave you the dependency per capita, it means very little if there are rich people here, there are rich people everywhere.

Frankly, I am fine with the rich paying more, but in time of disaster to withhold help while giving help for swing states 6 months after a much smaller disaster happened - yup, I am not fine with that one bit and nor should you.

California gets some nice income from all of the military bases in your state. Oregon gets bupkis.

Oregon is #27 in resident dependency on federal aid, California is #44 - so your argument is not reasonable - are you upset that Oregon gets help in other ways than California? The point here is how much help is received - and the fact is that California residents get very little compared to the rest of the country while paying the most in federal taxes - so withholding aid during a disaster is deplorable.

I also am not a big fan of telling people where to live - they should make their own decisions - but if they contribute to a shared pot - they should not be singled out in trying time. For the record, I already made my residency decision when I moved from Portland to California - and it was certainly not a financial cost of living decision - because as expensive as Portland is, California is more expensive, unfortunately.

I'm not upset at all. Just giving you some grief. California's average household income is around $101,000 as compared to Oregon's $59,000. And, just to be clear, California should definitely get emergency relief for the fires. I suspect that will happen after the election when Trump can stop blathering.

48% of California is federal land. How is their forest management doing compared to the forest owned by the state? I don't follow forests in California but if the feds are having greater success in their forest management relating to fires then California should follow their example.

agree...good forest management is important. The answer cant be, just plant more trees. The undergrowth from previous fires or logging can be the easy igniter.
More thinning and cleaning needs to be done in this State too, imo.

More than 1.1 million acres have burned on federal lands in California this year, compared to 769,032 acres on non-federally managed lands, according to figures collected by the National Interagency Fire Center.

Majority of forests are on federal land. Republicans consistently cut funding for federal forest management.

To be fair, the forests are probably overgrown in most of the country, but this is basically a result of fire-supression policies that were enacted about 100 years ago. Unfortunately, a lot of the people that pay the price as fire victims are paying it for the sins of 40 - 50 years ago - when disregard for climate change and reduction in forest management funds mostly happened.

People were really great helping out the fire victims. As a matter of fact the response during the fires was absolutely overwhelming. But as with so many things as the fires left the front pages and breaking news stories the need still remains.

Here is a letter from the NW Oregon Labor Council. It directly talks about a couple more food drives that will take place. if you have anything available to donate the need is still very real.
