The Greg Oden Watch "OFFICIAL" Thread...

Come to think of it, I know of a team in the NBA that could use an 8-10 minute center to come off of the bench for next season.

Come home, Greggers!

i'd second that if i thought he'd ever come back :(

Seriously? He can't even give you 8-10 minutes a game in consecutive games! What are you people watching that gives you any interest in him?

Broke down Oden still gives you better minutes off the bench than Leonard does right now.

#hater

Why can't people just wish my man luck and quit being so negative on him. Quality dude right there.

Hater? That's a bit of a stretch, but let it be known I'm far from optimistic about Oden's ability to earn a paycheck in the NBA. NBA roster spots are hard to come by and I'd rather see someone healthy get paid. Felt the same way when Patrick Ewing milked a few million from the Sonics at the end of his career bagged in ice on the bench. I'll be astonished if Oden can play a season of competitive basketball and contribute much.

I'm also someone who believes guys who've retired from career threatening injuries should be required to play a long stretch in the D league before they can sign with an NBA team. Roy should have as well.

Oden back to looking like .....Oden:

9 min. 5 fouls

How does that apply to Oden?

The hate and the snark toward a guy whose body betrayed him is bullshit. It sucks he's on a team I hate, but I'll always wish the best for Greg. People forget what a carefree naturally funny guy he was before the injury. Without those injuries, he'd be a 21st century Shaq, dominating on the court and a clown off of it. And he'd likely be doing it for us.

He was born with knees that couldn't take the game, just like Walton was born with feet that couldn't take the game and Bowie was born with leg bones that couldn't take the game. It's nothing more than bad luck. I put as much faith in GO as anyone as the final piece to lead us to the promised land, but it didn't happen. It sucks, but the hating on him in here is ridiculous.

This. Nice post. Repped.

Well folks, there's a great example of a strawman.

Exactly. I don't get hating on people for deficiencies that are beyond their control. I can't imagine the amount of time that guy has spent rehabbing from surgeries and trying to get in game shape -- only to be broken again and again.

So saying he's a foul-proned guy who admits he didn't take rehab seriously, and instead became a drunk, is not off-limits? Jesus, the guy is 25 years-old now. I'm not sorry that I'm not a fan of him, after the shit he pulled in Portland.

Oh, it was hard for Greg because of Durant doing so well.
Oh, it was hard for Greg because there is nothing for him to do in Portland.

Give me a break. He partied even his first year here, a lot, and I know because I live 5 blocks from where his house was at the time.

This. Where did the meme start that Oden was just an innocent bystander to his own life?

The guy shit on the entire city of Portland when he left. He could have been a little more mature and professional, but he pulled a bitch move instead.

Fuck Oden

Yes Muthafuckas I'm quoting myself:

I hope hot lava flows out of both of Greg Oden's knees and he never plays again. Straight up... At least Brandon and Lamarcus Re-Upped with us...
IMHO Greg owes us big... Not only did he become an alcoholic instead of staying strong (which is akin to quitting on us IMO), he makes
ignorant statements about Black men with money not liking my town. He's an idiot for saying that and he doesn't speak for all of us black folk.
Saying ignorance like that hurts our FA possibilities too therefore perpetuating more ignorance. Besides he looked like he was having loads of fun drinking
and straddling white girls in the Downtown Clubs didn't he? Instead of posting dick picks online and texting them to 6'10" strippers,
he should have been keeping his weight down and maybe his fucking knees wouldn't explode when he jumps...
Fuck Greg. Yes I said it....

That will never happen. Some Miami radio guy was on The Herd this morning saying that Oden's knees swell up an hour after he plays, so they try to limit all of his play within that window. He also thought that he won't even play in the playoffs until the Indy series, and only then for 8-10 minutes a game. His knees are never, ever going to let him be more than a curiosity off of the bench.

I was wondering about that. I wonder how his knees held up in college?

The Blazers training staff said they could find nothing wrong with him, but obviously something is wrong with his body, unless it's some weird psychological thing. I wonder what role our rash of injuries had to do with the firing of Jay Jensen?

Why don't you give me a link that shows he didn't take his rehab seriously? That is complete bullshit. You, like others, are just making shit up now.

At the time, you were the board's Advocate for Canzano. You write like him. Were you his source for his anti-Oden articles?

Rod Strickland is renowned for how much liquor he drank. I don't recall his knees exploding every season.

Mine either, come to think of it.

Honestly, there is no damn way Oden partied and injested as many "substances" as I did at his age. I did OK.

And look at Mags. Mags, come out here so we can see you, dammit!!
