Great revisionist history going on here. He NEVER said he didn't want to be here and he ALWAYS did his best in rehab. But you guys can believe your made up stories if you want. smh

Bullshit. Please provide a link...

Yours, and everybody else's judgement of Greg is bullshit. Walk a mile seriously.

Oden to Have Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, will undergo exploratory arthroscopic surgery this week because of pain in his right knee. An MRI taken last week showed Oden may have some cartilage problems, general manager Kevin Pritchard said Monday.

Remember it like it was yesterday, he goes in for a scope and comes out with MF performed.

Hmmm you sure about that?!

"For starters, Portland isn't a great city to live in if you're a young, African American male with a lot of money," Greg explained with an embarrassed grin. "But that's especially true if you don't have anybody to guide you. Since I was hurt the entire season, I was on my own a bunch and didn't have veteran teammates around to help me adapt to the NBA lifestyle."

"After those pictures hit the Internet, Greg says he locked himself in his house for three straight days until Portland personnel knocked on his door and essentially dragged him to the gym for rehab. Going forward, he found it difficult to show his face in public, assuming everyone was thinking about the pictures and laughing to themselves."

Sounds like he didn't even want to rehab....

It should be fun seeing Greg Oden and Dwight Howard going at it in the Finals! Great first year for Adam Silver huh?

Clearly you're like most, uninformed.

Greg's first micro fracture surgery was a choice, not by Greg, that was made by the team during surgery while scoping his knee for the first time. He wasn't "injured," he could have played fine his first year without undergoing MF, and has an 18-19 year old he should have.

No, you are the one uniformed. When doctors view an MRI they can't get a perfect look at the knee, in his case they knew a minor procedure was necessary and a possible defect needed to be inspected. When they cleared up the knee and put a camera inside the doctors could get a better view of the defect and saw that it required mircofracture. A year later Oden made a complete recovery and played for those 82 games plus the playoffs.

There might have been numerous mistakes made by the Blazers and their training staff, but deciding to perform the initial microfracture was not one of them.

Your own link doesn't support that. It supports what I'm saying. Nice that you edited this part out:

Oden recovered from that operation (tonsillectomy) and was working out in the Portland area when he felt pain in his knee. The MRI was taken Thursday and Oden refrained from working out over the weekend.

What is exploratory surgery for? It's to see if there's anything else wrong. They did the surgery based upon Greg complaining of pain, having an MRI that showed "cartilage problems" (media speak).

Greg was NOT healthy and needed Micro-fracture surgery. The exploratory surgery proved that. Do you think we would have given him the worst surgery he could have on his knee unless we were really sure he needed it?

Also, do you think that we would cut open his knee and do exploratory surgery if the MRI (which showed "cartilage problems") results weren't bad?

I think it's media spin to say 2 things:

Cartilage "problems" and "exploratory surgery".

I believe they speculated that they were going to have to do MF before the "exploratory surgery" but they didn't want to let it out until they knew for sure.

Truth. Repp'd.

He missed 20-some games his rookie year, too. Remember the first game of his career against the Lakers? Steps awkwardly and "SPRAINED" HIS FOOT after 13 minutes of PT! This was in his first game after missing his entire rookie season. Missed the next two weeks. Quite the start to a career.

Where does he say he doesn't want to be in Portland in that quote?

Oden to Have Arthroscopic Knee Surgery

Walk a mile in the shoes of an athletic freak of a man with tons of money that he hasn't had to work for? Gladly. You seriously think his life has been hard? When I see athletes who have been injured talk about their trials and tribulations like they were starving to death in Africa I can hardly contain my contempt.

And your "he wasn't injured" bullshit has already been shot down easily.

And that quote doesn't say he wasn't good about re-habbing either. You guys make me illl sometimes with your made up bullshit.

Where does he say he doesn't want to be in Portland in that quote?

It's pretty well implied. As is him not being committed to rehab. He was more worried about social media, drinking, and how white Portland is to leave his home too often!

Sounds like he was embarrassed.

He talks trash about the city and was dragged out of his house to rehab. Sounds like someone completely disconnected to me

How can you say he wants to be here when he says Portland isn't a great city to live in? Sorry you get ill over rational thinking. That must suck. Move down south then you'll be ok. ;)

Re: Oden STILL not ready?

You know that he had microfracture surgery 17 months ago, right? It's not a "3yr" timeline. It's a "not even 18 months from microfracture" timeline.

For MIA it's a steal. Paying less than we paid for Elliott Williams last year to get whatever oden can do. If he plays 15 mpg in the playoffs they will destroy people.

This.

I fully believe Oden didn't take the Rehab of his second MF very seriously and their is no denying he talked bad about Portland. But drawing such strong conclusions from two quotes, especially the Rehab one after a very very embarrassing incident happened, isn't as much rational thinking as it is over analyzing. You can draw multiple conclusions and manipulate it in a variety of ways when your talking about one quote and its not a quote that says something directly.

Dude I was just replying to the "living in denial" tlong; saying he never said that. Obviously he did; which is his exact quotes. Also, he was even quoted about not liking Portland. He didn't say, "what things about Portland". It was "I don't like Portland". End of story...

This is what was said and I'm not sure how anyone else can draw any other conclusion than he doesn't like Portland:

Greg "Baby Arm" Oden said:

He's young, Black, has a lot of money, and is in sigh.... depressing... Portland.... Oh woe is me...

And furthermore the statement above is not taking any responsibility. "I didn't have veteran teammates" waaa waaa...

Exactly!!!!

I hope hot lava flows out of both of Greg Oden's knees and he never plays again. Straight up... At least Brandon and Lamarcus Re-Upped with us...
IMHO Greg owes us big... Not only did he become an alcoholic instead of staying strong (which is akin to quitting on us IMO), he makes
ignorant statements about Black men with money not liking my town. He's an idiot for saying that and he doesn't speak for all of us black folk.
Saying ignorance like that hurts our FA possibilities too therefore perpetuating more ignorance. Besides he looked like he was having loads of fun drinking
and straddling white girls in the Downtown Clubs didn't he? Instead of posting dick picks online and texting them to 6'10" strippers,
he should have been keeping his weight down and maybe his fucking knees wouldn't explode when he jumps...
Fuck Greg. Yes I said it....

repost..

Does anybody else remember the article on Roy/LMA/Oden while all three were filming a TV spot in LA, and they all shared a trailer during the day.

Roy and LMA used the time getting to know each other in a positive manner, and credited it to advancing their friendship, as well as the team. Oden spent the day sleeping in the bedroom.

I can't find it on the intertubes yet, but I'll post it if I stumble across it. Greggers was aloof and irresponsible from the get-go. The embarrassing ESPY nonsense really looks bad, looking back. Durant was probably in a gym somewhere working on his game while Greggers was partying with Elton John.
