The cover story for the virus is that it was passed from animal to human.

Seems if that was true then the opposite would be true, making your continued work a catastrophic danger to the entire animal kingdom.

If the cover story was true.
A virus jumping between species takes random mutations. It is rare. It does happen, and did happen with this virus. It would have to mutate again to go from human to a random small bird species I work with. The chances of that are so ridiculously small, that is not even worth considering. The same reason people aren't giving it to their pet fish.

My client and I left La Pine at 3am this morning and drove to The Dalles, Pendleton, Troy, Enterprise, La Grande, Baker City, Sumpter, John Day to look at some properties, mostly off grid. What a beautiful day for a road trip! Got home about 9pm. Some gorgeous scenery, dozens of deer, and a magical moment with a herd of bighorns. I'll post a few pics later. Drove through the Blue Mts, the Elkhorn Mts, the Wallowas, the Ochocos.

Rare?

Try regular. Nearly every election year.
Swine flu, bird flues, Ebola, aids...

Pet fish?

A dog has already tested positive.

anyone gonna start cutting their own hair?
My wife has been cutting my hair for the last 7 or 8 years. She does just as good as a good barber while I save money and don't have to drive anywhere to get it done. Also, it gives me another chance to spend time talking to my wife which I love to do.

Yeah, I guess its in her own interest to make sure you are as unattractive to every other female as possible!
Yeah, I went through this for the first year or two until my wife got the hang of it. The nice part though was I don't really care too much about what other women think about my looks because I concentrate on caring about what my wife thinks about my looks.

Just the ticket! Drive-in movie theaters are rebooting for a new generation as people can enjoy films from a distance after indoor theaters are closed amid coronavirus pandemic
  • There are just over 300 drive-ins left in the U.S. - they constitute a small, oft-forgotten flicker in today's movie ecosystem
  • The Showboat Drive-In Theater in Hockley, Texas, saw a 40 percent increase in attendance last weekend
  • The Blue Moon Drive-in in Guin, Alabama, is now allowing outside food and drink in amid the pandemic

There's even some drive-in theaters in Washington.
Oregon's last drive-in theater closed several decades ago. I remember fondly the 82nd. ave. drive-in and one on 101st and 122nd. Then there was one in Beaverton. Geez, I've been to a million drive-ins. I remember making out with this beautiful sorority sister in Corvallis. Wow, just wow. God, I loved the drive-in.

We have a drive-in theater here in Newberg, buddy.

Is it new? I've been through Newberg many times and never noticed a drive-in. When I used to subscribe to the Oregonian I would often peruse the movie section and never saw them advertised. I've always loved going to a drive-in. I'm wondering how many others in here have stuck friends in the trunk so you could sneak them in without paying. Also, how many others have gone in a pick-up parked backwards or a station wagon parked backwards with the back door wide open so you could lay down while watching a movie. Good grief, I can't tell you how many pizzas I've eaten at the drive-in.

Cool. How about you don't tell me how to do my job, and I will do the same for you.

Not criticizing you or telling you how to do your job, which from knowing you somewhat, I have full confidence in.

I'm criticizing your employer and suggesting they should and likely do know better.

All over America, academics, scientists and doctors are deliberately excusing themselves from following the same advice that they are demanding others to follow, and it drops their credibility to near zero.

According to their website they've been there since 1953.

If you want to blame my employer, blame the State of Florida. I work for the state.

Our offices are all shut down and all workers are working from home, aside from the field biologists like myself. We work in the wild and have no need for human interaction to get our research done. If they decide to shut us down from field work, I will happily comply. I personally feel like I am at the least risk when I am working, currently.

Must be out of the way because I've been through hwy 99 many times back and forth to Spirit Mountain as well as many trips over the mountain from Farmington road without ever seeing it.

Well, I ain't going to Lebanon even though I know and like someone (a Trump supporter) who lives there.
I guess I didn't know about any others because all the ones I knew are now shut down.

You don't need to go to Lebanon, the link says that one shut down in 2002.
Oddly enough, I went to that drive-in once, in my youth.

barfo
