Dude, he's making about what Ed Davis and Aminu are making COMBINED. That's a terrible deal. They may as well give the money to charity.

Well Neil's a genius. I'm assuming other teams don't have his acumen.

Deron Williams had an MRI performed on his left knee Thursday and while results showed no structural damage, he will sit out the game against the Clippers.

Williams said the MRI showed a sprain and he listed himself as day-to-day.

Joining Williams on the sideline will be Wesley Matthews, the other half of the projected starting backcourt when the Mavericks have a full roster of players.

Matthews played more minutes than expected on Wednesday in the win at Phoenix and coach Rick Carlisle said he was being held out on the second night of a back-to-back as a precaution.

"This was not a pre-scheduled rest day," Carlisle said of Matthews. "But considering the minutes he did put in, this is the right move for us."

As for Williams, he said: "He came out of it a little sore. We don't consider it serious, but he will be out (Thursday)."

It's not a shocker that the Mavericks are having to go through some stops and starts with Matthews and Williams. Neither played in the preseason until the final exhibition. Matthews is coming off Achilles surgery and came up limping slightly after a shot he took in the second half Wednesday.

Williams battled calf muscle problems in camp and dinged his knee when he got tangled with the Suns Eric Bledsoe.

Yeah sounds like Wes is fine they just want to be cautious.

Booooo. Wes is the man and I'll be a fan of his forever. We can celebrate CJ without putting down Wes.

The other former Blazers are fair game.

Is it a put down to say Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was better than Sabonis? We love Sabonis but there are better centers. Not a put down. Just a fact. I love Wes. He was a great Blazer. CJ is better. That's a fact.

Today I heard on the radio that our former starters combined for 37 points. Guess who scored 37 points last night all by himself.

Can you just finish 1st in the marathon and go back to your old name. It just looks so funky! lol!

Dallas signing wes was the worst move of the four. Cuban should've started to rebuild and instead payed all this money for an 8th seed with no real future.

That said I'll never talk bad about Wes. He was all out all the time. I also won't talk bad about Batum. Too likeable. Robin was cool too despite being limited as an athlete and as a player.

Fuck Marsha though.

I would argue that as well. Maybe not in CJ vs Wes, but Amino is super solid and more aggressive than Nic.

The argument was CJ vs Wes. CJ while being a better ballhandler (than Lillard) is not the post up player, defender, nor the leader that Wes is/was.

But he could be. And thankfully he appears to have the work ethic to get there.

Alberto's statement wasn't about the future. It's about the right now. Sans the Achilles injury, my statement holds true.

Yes Wes can post up, but how many times a game would he do it? 2-3 times at the most?
If he would have tried it any more than that the defenses would have adjusted. And his average at best passing and ball handling skills would have been exploited.

CJ on the other hand does not need to post up because he has a larger arsenal of options once he gets into the lane. He can stop on a dime and pull up for a short jumper, or shoot the runner.

Wes is a much better defender against bigger players than cJ, He is a 2/3.
CJ is a better defender against quicker players and is a 1/2
CJ will get you more assists and surprising about the same amount of rebounds.

Wes is a warrior though. His toughness will be missed.

Of all the posters to crack on someone for talking about something other than the threads subject...

I know it's bad to wish failure upon anyone. But I was VERY glad to see the Overweight Luvva go 4-12, with 11 pts 5 WEAK rebounds and a LOSS.

FUCK YOU TEXAS TURNCOAT!!!

Cuban also signed Jordan, but...

Tex is 3-11, with 8 points three minutes thru the 3rd against Boston.
