The "How are Aldridge, Batum, Lopez, and Matthews Doing?" Thread

Am I the only one who's shocked LaMarcus showed up to training camp looking like that? With everything that went on over the summer and getting this huge contract from the Spurs I would have thought he'd show up ready to impress. Knowing the successful, businesslike way the Spurs are reportedly run (and the reputation Pop has for getting after his players) it is the last thing I expected to see. He really does look physically terrible and completely lost in their system. I think he will turn it around but he looks like a different player!
My theory is his weight gain correlates with the McDonald's all day breakfast starting.

LaMarcus Aldridge: 14.8 PPG / 10 RPG / 2.2 APG / 2 TOPG / 0.6 BPG / 0.4 SPG / 32.6 MPG - SHOOTING: .414/.000/.800

Robin Lopez: 10 PPG / 4.6 RPG / 2 APG / 2.8 TOPG / 1 BPG / 0.2 SPG / 26.6 MPG - SHOOTING: .468/.000/1.000

What's their WS/48? That is the metric I like to look at the best.

Aldridge: .122

Lopez: .004

Wes: .079

Batum: .088
Aldridge's number is higher than I thought it would be based on all the criticism he's been getting. It's not a 'Max Salary' type number, but a decent WS number.

Wes & Batum are slightly lower than what I would have guessed. I'm really surprised that Lopez's is that low.

Only Ray McCallum, David West and Danny Green have worse WS numbers on the Spurs.

Batum just posted up Wes and hit a hook shot

I wonder if Portland is going to become the new Spurs, where guys look good in our offensive system, get moved, and promptly fall to shit because the system no longer supports them. Stotts really is an underrated coach. But if these ex-Blazers continue to have mediocre to bad seasons while Portland emerges from the rubble, beating expectations by 15 or 20 wins, it makes him even more likely to be a COY candidate.

Add to the fact that Aminu, Davis, Harkless, & Plumlee were all had for cheap

Terry "GOAT" Stotts
Neil "GOAT" Olshey

LMA: 15/10/41 fg% -- 16 PER

His lift is gone - being at least 280 lbs. is to blame.

He's morphing into a watered-down Miami Chris Bosh.
Bosh is still a lot more athletic isn't he? And a better shooter. I don't think LA has been anything close to the all star every assumes he is for the last 3 years.

Bosh never let himself go the way LA did.

Vin Baker is probably a better comparison.
