I didn't skip your point at all. I said that all my pals are liberal Jews and Democrats and "they don't "revile" the 1% - many are the 1%, and those that aren't, strive to get there."

I didn't skip your point at all. I said that all my pals are liberal Jews and Democrats and "they don't "revile" the 1% - many are the 1%, and those that aren't, strive to get there."

But the vast majority of the party and all the elected officials DO revile the 1%.

You and your friends are voting for people who revile you for your success.

Get it yet?

Here in Portland, maybe the Portlandia folk don't like the 1% but again, I would say the vast majority love money and want more. Yours is a characterization that is simply not true.

Dude, for you it's a theory that Dems hate the 1%, but that is my world and in my real life experience that's just not true. You are taking talking points from some right wing class, but the class is about the world I live in. I trust my observations more than your Cliff notes about something which you clearly know nothing of in real life - because you can't know it because you don't run in these circles.

Get it yet?

In fact, other than maybe Maris, here on this board even, I don't see any of that vaunted 1% hate by my Democratic friends of which you speak.

Barfo - do you hate the 1%?

Obama Wants To Increase Taxes Of Top 1% To Finance Middle-Class Benefits

President Barack Obama's State of the Union address will propose closing multibillion-dollar tax loopholes used by the wealthiest Americans, imposing a fee on big financial firms and then using the revenue to benefit the middle class, senior administration officials said on Saturday.

Obama's annual address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night will continue his theme of income equality, and the administration is optimistic it will find some bipartisan support in the Republican-dominated House of Representatives and Senate.

I don't frequent right wing sites or news channels.

I live in the real world and see this stuff going on by watching things like the state of the union speeches.

Who, exactly, are "Occupy Wall Street?"

You just made MY POINT. Occupy was ridiculous. I don't know any Democrat that took it seriously. But you think Dems really believed that malarkey. Like I said, you have a distorted view of what a Democrat really is.

I'm not a democrat but I'm not seeing a problem with that. I'm not seeing how that is hating the 1%.

We vote for Democrats because their values most closely align with Jewish values: The importance of community; The value of education - for all - and as a way to get ahead; Tikkun olam (healing the world); fighting injustice; advocating for the disadvantaged and those who do not have a voice; understanding and assisting the oppressed; acceptance of differences; the desire to debate (ad naseum!) instead of fight if possible. Say what you will, but those things do not describe the Republican party.

And, for the record, support of Israel is very low on the list. And also for the record, W did more to hurt Israel with his wanton violent jingoistic foreign policy than any President, ever.

If I was Jewish, i'd be freaked out by how the Evangelists put Israel on a pedestal.

careful....it's the "whack-y" Evangelists. Those occupied (no pun intended) with End Times Theology and stuff.

To each his own, but that's painting with a broad brush.

It's a case of the crazies making everyone look bad.

Google Bernard Epton and get back to me about Democrats.

Dems elected Elizabeth Warren and hype her for President even.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politic...t-not-that-different-from-tea-party-protests/

President Obama, who has become a target of the Occupy Wall Street protests sweeping the country, today embraced the economic frustration voiced on the streets and said in an exclusive interview with ABC News that his vision for the U.S. economic system is best suited to resolve protesters’ concerns.

“I understand the frustrations being expressed in those protests,” Obama told ABC News senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper in the interview to air this evening on ABC News “Nightline” from Jamestown, N.C.

“In some ways, they’re not that different from some of the protests that we saw coming from the Tea Party. Both on the left and the right, I think people feel separated from their government. They feel that their institutions aren’t looking out for them,” he said.

Obama said the most important thing he can do as president is express solidarity with the protesters and redouble his commitment to achieving what he described as a more egalitarian society.

Warren Takes Credit for Occupy Wall Street

The Harvard professor has spooked the right. As she begins her high-profile Senate campaign against GOP star Scott Brown in Massachusetts, the consumer advocate tells Samuel P. Jacobs how she created 'much of the intellectual foundation' for the Occupy Wall Street movement. She also talks about her past life as a Republican and the challenges of being a woman on the campaign trail—and says she's no 'guileless Marxist.'
Elizabeth Warren is running for office in the most high-profile race in the country not involving Barack Obama. It’s a position that calls for some tact. So what does she think about the Occupy Wall Street protests that are roiling the country?

“I created much of the intellectual foundation for what they do,” she says. “I support what they do.”

Republicans hate poor people and minorities so its only fair.

Republicans hate poor people and minorities so its only fair.

I think government hates poor people and minorities, basically.

What do Democrats do for poor and minorities?

1) Stick them in failing schools with no option to go to a better one
2) hand out free money, only enough to keep them poor, and with strings attached so they can't become unpoor.
3) Block things like the keystone pipeline that would create jobs and wealth. It's a massive infrastructure project (govt. loves infrastructure) that costs $0 to the taxpayer.

etc.

So democrats hate rich people and the government hates poor people? Who's left for the republicans to hate besides eachother?

Proof that republicans hate poor people!

I don't know that republicans have a monopoly on hate. Ever watch MSNBC? Or FSTV?

I knew the GOP was going to start in on this "we are the party of income equality" propaganda campaign, but I had no idea it would work this well.

Who is the party that would love to abolish the minimum wage?

Who is the party that is anti-union?

Who is the party trying to take away the poor's healthcare?

Who is the party trying to push off social security?

Who is the party against Affirmative action? Food stamps?

Who is the party against Equal pay for women?

Private school vouchers? Denny, Wtf are you smoking.

The rich have never been richer than now, but isn't that a republican idea? Trickle down?

The democrats are just as bad for this world, but to paint the GOP as "for the poor" in comparison is just silly.

Vote independent! Fuck the party's!

I knew the GOP was going to start in on this "we are the party of income equality" propaganda campaign, but I had no idea it would work this well.

Who is the party that would love to abolish the minimum wage? >> Damn good idea. Not the federal goverments business. It's just another cookie for the Democrats to hand out.

Who is the party that is anti-union? >> Only Unions of government employees. More cookies for the Democrats to hand out. Forcing people to join Unions is very bad.

Who is the party trying to take away the poor's healthcare? >> What I object to mostly, is the governments taking away my healthcare earned through many years work.

Who is the party trying to push off social security? >> Some party should have done this long ago. I is basically a Ponzi scheme. Doubt you will collect.

Who is the party against Affirmative action? Food stamps? >> A A up close and personal shows it for what it is, really stupid. Food Stamps? No problem but Obama blew it up.

Who is the party against Equal pay for women? >> Which party is this?

Private school vouchers? Denny, Wtf are you smoking. >> Which party supports the teachers Union that is totally against this?

The rich have never been richer than now, but isn't that a republican idea? Trickle down? >> Everyone is free to chase the dream.

The democrats are just as bad for this world, but to paint the GOP as "for the poor" in comparison is just silly. >> Who's against the Poor? Dems use them as their private flock to fleece.

Vote independent! Fuck the party's!
>> I would really like to see more lefties leaning this way.

The funniest thing about the GOP saying they are for income equality - aside from the sheer preposterousness of it of course - is that is the only possible economic issue they can grasp onto. Unemployment is down, stocks are up, inflation is down, interest rates are low.

Why would anyone ever vote GOP? Clinton = great economy. W = waste the surplus, drive the economy into a ditch. Obama = saved the day.
