The Jimmer slow? Think again as he shines in some

Oh and OKC absolutely DOES have an elite shooter off the bench. His name is Daequan Cook (42% from three this season). But he's black so you over looked him even though he is an NBA ALL STAR THREE POINT CONTEST CHAMPION.

Read my post again where I mention white or black. Plus, Cook is an afterthought this year. What's your glitch, Eric?

Kerr was actually pretty good on defense for San Antonio.

Yeah, a regular stopper. He played <10mpg combined for the Spurs in 30 playoff games.

Wow, is this your time of the night?

Cook is a career 37% 3-point shooter who is shooting 35% in the playoffs.

Dumb post, Eric.

I think there is a lesson to be learned here when it comes to athletic measurements at a combine. Some players play slower than their measured speeds. Think of all the work-out wonders like Joe Alexander that test well, but when you watch them on tape they aren't able to actually apply that maximum athleticism in the course of game.

In Jimmer's case I'm far more worried about the fact that he was never asked to play defense ... ever. How is he suddenly going to gain the reps needed to create the muscle memory and awareness needed to sit down in his stance without leaning forward when he gets tired against much tougher competition? He's also 6'0" tall with a 33" vertical jump. I'd worry about his ability to get enough elevation to get his jump shot off against taller more athletic wing defenders at the next level.

If a player is a knock down shooter with range and a quick release then the D is forced to play up on them to try to take away that shot. Typically that gives the player a step advantage to blow by the defender and do some stuff off the dribble.

The tale of the tape (both in size and athleticism) on Stephen Curry's predraft was pretty close to JF's and he's been able to get his shot off to the tune of 18+ points with a high shooting %. I think the main point in your first paragraph could apply here. I only watched Fredette a couple of games, but he seemed to shoot off the dribble great. If he's thought to have some passing skills too, I bet he's off the board well before Portland's pick.

they made the combine shooting drills public for the first time and jimmer did well

Didn't do as well off the dribble. Not that the results should be read into as 100% evidence of how he will be. Just not great for him to just be better spotting up than creating for himself.

Come on guys, trying to draw ANY conclusions regarding these tests is a stupid endeavor....

if me and you went out and shot 100 shots, and i got 90 and you got 40, it would pretty much say that i am a much better shooter than you.

of course people can have off days, thats why the rest of their lives are filmed and dissected by scouts

On that particular day....I mean that is all you really can infer from that.

no that is not all, if you pay attention, you can infer that they are better...period

what are the odds that this list would be similar if held again tomorrow? likely better than the odds of the list being completely random

but like i said, scouts have enough other information, where something like this plays a very small part of their evaluation

Part of me secretly hopes we draft Jimmer at 21 and Kyle Singler at 51 ... at least that will give us something to talk about through the lockout.

certainly different conditions can create differences too. Many shooters do better when they're wide open spotting up. Others do their best shooting off the dribble in pressure situations. Players have their favorite shooting gyms, or find extra focus being booed at on the road.

I'm not a huge fan of either of those guys, but at those spots they'd be steals IMO.

the combine has spot up college 3, spot up nba 3, off the dribble 15-18 feet, and something called timed shooting, seems like balls in a rack or whatever.
these results should be taken with a generous amount of salt, but there is "some" info that can be gleaned from the results

not sure that jimmer would be a steal at 21, but singler should provide late 2nd value
