Also birtherism is back! Hard to argue Oakland, California, where Harris was born, not part of United States. But it's not about facts. Harris, like Obama, is not a REAL American because, well, can't imagine why.

I'll admit to being wrong about the convention being a shit show. I guess I was hopeful, since that would have at least felt like a more democratic process. I can get behind Kamala, though. Donny won't run in 2028 (I've said that before). Any chance republicans will run a respectable candidate in the first time in over a decade? I can't be the only person that is starting to come around to the idea that we are living in a simulation though, right? These past few weeks have been pretty head-spinning, politically.

Supposedly the (ridiculously unfounded) argument is that since her parents were not only not citizens but also not permanent residents (in the country on student visas), even though she was indisputably born in the United States, perhaps she was not "subject to the jurisdiction thereof," and thus doesn't meet the 14th amendment's standard for being a natural-born citizen.

Obviously, the US government has never taken this perspective, so the complainers are without merit, but much like those who continue to insist that income tax is unconstitutional, nothing will convince these people that their interpretation of the Constitution doesn't override the Supreme Court's.

Their presidential candidate donated to Kamala in a past campaign.

Their VP candidate called their presidential candidate "America's Hitler."

It's over.

Veepstakes. I was thinking strongest candidates Pennsylvania governor Joel Shapiro and Arizona senator Mark Kelly. Then learned they are prospects Trump most fears.

Shapiro beat a Trump endorsed Republican by 14 points. He is governor of large swing state. Three Upper Midwest states are called Blue Wall, if Democrats hold them they usually win; without them almost impossible. It is strong Biden territory. Many Biden supporters feel he was treated shabbily and one of their own as running mate would help soothe. Two downsides. He is barely into first term and might find it wrong to leave. Something that should not be an issue but is, he's Jewish. A woman of color and a Jew? Expect vile anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and constant references to Trump as Christian.

Kelly has compelling story. While Trump wears bandage on slightly injured ear until November, Kelly's wife, former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, was almost killed and still permanently disabled in shooting that left half dozen dead, including a little girl. Gun safety is very popular with everyone but Republican politicians. His parents were cops. So party of law and order runs candidate with 34 felony convictions while Democrats run prosecutor and son of police officers. If he wins, his Senate seat would be filled interim by Democratic governor. No real downside to Kelly except Upper Midwest states feeling dissed.
MSNBC person on street interviews resulted in VP suggestions Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Michele Obama, not possible.

His comment was misogynistic and I'd say sexist (which I admit is kind of being redundant), though I don't know if it's racist. OTHER comments, though, have had racist code words though.

Good lord, that was fantastic.

Looks like she studied Barack. Her inflection, physical movements, all of it.

Such a positive message. Attacked Trump as if he was not even important, like he was just a part of an annoying obstacle.

Very positive. Everything was about making the future amazing, not trying to relive the mythical great American past.
