It's entirely in keeping with time-honored Republican strategy of "set the poor folks against each other." "Don't look at the rich White guy with all the money - it's that penniless IMMIGRANT that's the problem!" Or: "Don't worry about the white racists, worry about the INAUTHENTIC BLACK PEOPLE!"
Sad thing is, they keep doing it because it works just enough. And it steers the conversation away from their failures and the fact that Trump is a weird old creepy dude to talking about bullshit about Harris. This is the new Hunter Biden's Laptop/Benghazi/Whitewater/whatever
