Pete Buttigieg once said whatever you do, Republicans will call it socialism so just do the right thing and don't worry.

Trump has labeled Joe Biden radical left and Marxist, which is pretty hilarious and underlines Buttigieg's point.

When Walz was accused of being too liberal, he didn't run and hide, he said oh the horror, children with full bellies getting an education! He's right. These are popular positions. Most people think children should be fed. Have a chance at education. And yes, legal marijuana is popular.

I was afraid Harris would listen to consultant class, nearly all older prosperous white men, who always advise turning right and are usually wrong.
 
My dad is also a retired National Guard CSM. Can't wait to hear what he thinks and if he's ever met Tim. He's always been a republican but never voted for Trump, so it'll be interesting to get his take.
 
I would be much happier with this pick, if, the roles were reversed.

Walsh for pres, Harris for vp.

Short version. Harris has zero, none, nada, leadership skills.

Even though they compete and don't particularly in sports, they have similarities in demo's and politics. There are many transplants from one of the three states to another. Their politics align pretty close with probably MN the most left.
It's kind of like OR,WA & CA aligning politically and if the GOV from either State was selected as VP candidate they would more than likely get support from the 0ther 2.
If the Dems focus on the Economy, Choice and improved border management that will help.
 
There are a lot of meat and potato people in the mid west, why more than the left coast so they need to stay center left probably.

Can you imagine even a single voter saying, "I can't really decide between Harris and Trump, but Harris didn't pick our governor as her running mate, so I'm voting for Trump out of spite!"

Seems a bit unlikely to me.

Harris now leads Trump with Independent and Young voters

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has opened up a lead against Republican rival former President Trump, particularly among young voters and independents, according to a survey released Monday.

The Morning Consult polling shows the vice president leading Trump 48 percent to 44 percent, the largest lead for a Democratic presidential candidate over Trump in nearly a year.

Harris has a 5-point edge among independents surveyed, 42 percent to 37 percent, and a 9-point lead among voters under 35, 49 percent to 40 percent.

Both groups are considered key indicators of swing voter trends, the pollster noted.

President Biden’s final head-to-head tracking in the same poll against Trump last month showed he trailed in both categories. Among young voters, Trump held a 9-point lead against Biden.

The same poll’s findings released a week ago found Trump and Harris tied, a week into her presidential campaign.

A Decision Desk HQ/The Hill analysis based on an aggregate of reputable polls shows Harris and Trump in a dead heat, polling at 47 percent each among voters.

Fourteen years ago I switched from registered Democrat to registered Independent. This morning I finally found a reason to re-register as a Democrat. Ever since 2016 I've searched high and low for just one word to describe Republicans in general and MAGA in particular. I can't believe I missed the most obvious. Tim Walz nailed it, and Kamala Harris has made it main stream. Republicans and MAGA are just plain f**king WEIRD! Like some DC comics American bizzarro world with no basis in reality. Tim Walz was an outstanding pick and will make an outstanding president when Kamala's eight years are up. Finally, finally, finally the Democrats deliberately did something right.
