The Lillard Blazers peaked 2 seasons ago

the problem with that example is that the Pels only won an average of 36 games a year with AD. They didn't have any high standard to get back to

The amount of bitching on this board about our record, doesn't sound like we've got a high standard either.

Paul George?

I thought I covered that?...maybe I deleted instead of posted; probably should do that more often

from my memory: 181 wins in the 4 seasons before trading PG; 2 ECF appearence. 175 wins after the trade; 3 first round exits and this year's lottery team

Us playing a preseason game in Israel and a giant meteor hits north america.

Last team standing! Champions by default!

Same general idea, but more OT relevant: Start trading for non-vaccinated players so that when the great die-off of the vaccinated happens, the Blazers survive to win the chip. I mean, I won’t be around to enjoy it, but certain fans around here will really win big.

So we've got one more year to make good!

Think there is truth to the fact that the WCF run is the high-water mark of the era, I still say you play it out with Dame. With him around, it's hard to discount the possibility of greatness. I look at the post Jordan Bulls and the recent Celtics amassing of picks and don't see much hope in assembling a war chest of picks. Also, not sure how the trade market gives value for picks if two teams have massive hordes of picks, and OKC already beat us there.

Never trust a person with a first name for a last name.

Chris Paul, Paul George, Logan Paul, Jake Paul, Paul Simon, Paul Allen...maybe it's the name Paul.

Now that I think about it that 18-19 team was really underrated talent wise. We had Seth Curry coming off the bench. He’s been a starter since.

* Portland had a 54 win team that made it to the WC semi-finals....and Olshey dismantled it

* Portland had a 53 win team that made it to the WC finals....and Olshey dismantled it

neither of those teams were contenders, but both were the high water marks for the Stolshey era and Olshey didn't know how to build on either. Portland's 9 year problem is still the same. It didn't get solved Friday

I was thinking about this the other day. Were we just horribly underrating Harkless and Aminu?

Trade everything except Dame. A player like Dame will not be found for next 30-40 years in this organization

I asked this in another thread but might as well ask it here too:

Are there any examples of a small-market team trading their only star, their franchise player, for lesser player(s) and a collection of lower picks and ending up better than they were prior to the trade, over the next 5 seasons?...7 seasons?

I'm trying to remember; it didn't with Melo or Deron Williams or Chris Bosh or KG or Westbrook or PG13 or Kawhi or Jimmy Butler. Who am I forgetting?

OKC traded Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen in 2007. Franchise players? BPM’s of +4.1 and +3.7 respectively. That worked out pretty well. Course you need a draft savant to replicate. Is Olshey up to the task? LOL.

I don't know how you expected Olshey to build on 2019 when he could only keep one of Curry, Hood, and Kanter and he didn't have Nurkic going into the season.

How’s about seeing if a defensive minded Coach can get this team to a Championship? We all know Offense doesn’t really need a Coach.

Remember how, when the Drexler Blazers lost to Jordan in the finals (after losing to Zeke and then Magic) we thought they'd be back, but it was first round exits from there on out? And then the 'Sheed Blazers battled the Shaq-Kobe Lakers to a standstill before running out of gas in game 7 of the WCF and we also thought we'd be back? Only - guess what - first round exits for years after? Well (and I think you can see where this is going)...

Realistically, Dame is at his very tip-top peak and has already probably started a decline, and there's no way we're going to get another superstar, let alone the TWO superstars you need nowadays. So, if he's suddenly decided he might not be a Blazer-for-life-through-thick-and-thin, it's time to let him fly free.

Add to that the fact that nobody is going to give us value for CJ (prove me wrong, NBA!) and I say:

TRADE DAME, KEEP CJ
Calm down, CJ-haterz - we just need to keep CJ for the first half of next season. He's at a low in value right now, but if he can start next season like he started this one, then some team is going to be tempted into offering us something of value, and once Dame is gone, it can be a package of picks (trading CJ for picks when we still have Dame would further piss him off, demonstrating that we're not serious about contending).

I'm ready for the Anfernee Simons Era to begin!

The Blazers didn't run out of gas in that game, the ref. was dirty.

Boston trading KG?
Memphis trading Marc Gasol?
Utah trading Deron Williams?
The Pelicans trading Davis hasn't paid off fully yet, but everyone expects them to put it together sooner rather than later.
Acquiring Zion to fill the void was a nice move on their part.

If you did that, and I were Dame, I would say "get me the fuck out of here!"

Olshey doesn't appear to give much thought about the cap situation 2-3 years down the road. It appears he takes things year by year & as a result he finds himself in between a rock & a hard place. It's all his own doing though.

This is true of a bunch of players. It's almost as if... Stotts was a good coach...?

So what you're saying is we need to trade CJ right away in case his stats drop like harkless and aminu?

I agree!

Give Lillard some of that credit. Great players make the players around them better.
Not necessarily. Some great players make SOME of their teammates better. But, conversely, some players are only put in a position to be great because of their teammates. Steph Curry needs people to set screens for him. And look at Porzingis vs. Doncic: everyone's saying Porzingis is complete dogshit and Doncic is Lord God Almighty, but Porzingis looks a fuck ton better every time Doncic is out because he actually sees the ball once in a while.
