San Diego State beats C. Michigan 48-11 in New Mexico Bowl

upload_2019-12-22_6-56-18.png

Coming into the New Mexico Bowl, San Diego State's defense was the focus. The Aztecs ranked second in the nation in rushing defense and second in rushing yards allowed per carry. But San Diego State's offense, with only an average of 19 points-per game, ranked among the nation's worst. Something had to give against Central Michigan and its strong defense.

So the Aztecs offense stepped it up Saturday

Ryan Agnew passed for 287 yards and three touchdowns, Jesse Matthews caught three passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns and San Diego State won a bowl game for the first time since 2016, beating Central Michigan 48-11 on Saturday in the New Mexico Bowl.

McDonald throws for 493, leads Hawai'i past BYU

Hawai'i coach Nick Rolovich had this SoFi Hawai'i Bowl all figured out, except for the details.

He told his players there would be times when beating BYU seemed out of reach, but he wanted them to expect to win the game in the fourth quarter. And that's what happened Tuesday at Aloha Stadium in a 38-34 victory for the Rainbow Warriors' first win over the Cougars since 2001.

Air Force tops Washington State 31-21 at Cheez-It Bowl

Air Force clung to a three-point lead, the clock showing plenty of time left for one of the nation's most prolific offenses.

A field goal was not going to be good enough. The Falcons needed a touchdown to leave Washington State no chance.

Going for it on fourth down was the only option -- and it worked.

Kadin Remsberg ran for 178 yards and stretched to the pylon for a 3-yard touchdown on a late fourth down, lifting No. 24 Air Force to a 31-21 victory over Washington State in the Cheez-It Bowl on Friday night.

Wyoming rolls over Georgia State 38-17 in Arizona Bowl

Wyoming wanted to make the most of its bowl game after being passed over in the postseason last year. Giving a freshman quarterback his first career start didn't seem like the best approach to accomplishing that goal.

Levi Williams handled it just fine and the Cowboys are riding off from the 2019 season with a bowl victory.

Williams accounted for four scores, Xazavian Valladay ran for 204 yards and scored two touchdowns, and Wyoming rolled over Georgia State 38-17 in the Arizona Bowl on Saturday.

Inside Fresno State QB Jake Haener's unpredictable rise

At about 11:09 p.m. PT on Saturday, Fresno State quarterback Jake Haener double pumped, got rid of the ball late and immediately paid for it. He absorbed a UCLA defender on his right side, while another crashed into his unpadded left.

He went down in pain. The incompletion meant it was third-and-goal from the 19-yard line and the Bulldogs trailed by four. So with only three minutes left in the game, his competitive instincts quickly overruled what his body was telling him.
