He certainly implied that he wasn't. His post was not in response to anyone's.

Ehhhh...I'd say you inferred rather than he implied. Potato, Po-tah-to, I guess...

It was just a statement.

An incorrect one.

True, although I think some mistakenly equate "British" to encompassing the entire UK; however that would still exclude Pierce, who's Irish, so it's incorrect anyway.

Regardless, we're all just speculating on what he meant. HEY!! @stampedehero!! Get in here and clear this up for us, will ya?!

Sir Sean Connery is most certainly British. Scotland is part of Great Britain.

Fair enough. They're the same island.

Bottom line, the assumption is that Idris is not can easily be cleared up...

It'd take some getting used to. But can't be worse than Brosnan. Good lord those were brutal movies.

I hope not.

Don't want retreads.

White folk are gonna go crazy if this happens.
Not me. I think he'd be superb in that role.

Also, I really like his rap music.

This guy would be excellent in any action movie. He's so good that I'm predicting he'd be a hit among white folk.

I simply can't say enough good things about him.

I've seen him as a villain and as a victim in two other movies. His best by far is "The Take" where he plays a very tough CIA agent in France.

Pierce Brosnan was the second worst Bond ever. The worst was George Lazenby. The best was Sean Connery with Daniel Craig being second best.

I think Idris would be an excellent Bond. I vote Idris although I think he doesn't stand a chance because of his statement about how we shouldn't believe all the hype. Somebody wave their magic wand and make me happy.

Sean Connery isn't British. Neither are George Lazenby or Pierce Brosnan.

That said Elba is British
Really? Good Intel. Connery must be Scottish, The others; Brosnan and Lazenby must be some other UK lineage. You know James Bond-I'm impressed.

I couldn't even get past Lazenby's fight on the beach. I'm a big Bond fan but have not seen OHMSS, even though I own it. Just find it as an anomoly.

I actually enjoyed Moore and Dalton a lot. The past few Craig movies I thought were a little too emotional for my tastes. They were good to watch once, but don't have a lot of replayability. I'm kind of tired of watching Craig's personal struggles in Bond movies.

Actually, "Casino Royale" has been made twice--once in 1967 with David Niven (Ian Fleming's original choice for Bond), and then again in 2006 with Daniel Craig.

That said, the rest of your post was spot on.
That's correct. David Niven was a horrible James Bond. Not quite as bad as George Lazenby or Pierce Brosnan but almost.

Moore was not good at all in that role. Dalton was barely tolerable. I think Daniel Craig is the second best Bond.

Wasn't that Casino Royale movie from the 60s a parody? I watched it, it was pretty hard to watch.

Connery is Scottish. Scotland is on the isle of Great Britain and therefor British.

Do you know where Brosnan and Lazenby are from?

Moore was great, I enjoyed his movies for the most part. Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun and Octopussy were amoung my favorites.

Dalton was badass. He was way grittier, I love License to Kill and The Living Daylights is a very underrated Bond movie. He had that unhinged borderline serial killer vibe to him.

If I had to rank:

1. Connery
2. Moore
3. Dalton
4. Craig
5. Brosnan
6. Lazenby (incomplete)

Casino Royale was great.
I actually enjoyed Quantum a lot. I'm in the minority on that one.
Skyfall was bad
Spectre was "ok" but a little overdramatic.

Lazenby is Austrailian and Brosnan is Irish. Connery is indeed Scottish. I know James Bond from the inside out.

I've read all the books at least three times, some 6 or 7 times. The guy said he wanted to write the greatest spy story of all time and he did it.

I memorized the theme songs to "From Russia with Love" and "Thunderball". Even the instrumental themes were excellent.

I remember reading about the production of the movie, "Dr. No" before it was released. It was in some magazine. Could have been Look or Life.

I think whats more important than who plays Bond, it's if the movie ages well. Certain movies (Brosnan and Moore for example) didn't really age well.

It was a spoof.
