Ive been lukewarm on Grant for a while. I think Nas is gonna be better than him soon and much cheaper.

Nas isn’t a power forward, not a full time one anyway. Out of the 1,000 plus minutes he’s played this season, he only spent 70 minutes at the four.

i meant in the context of a nas + bled for grant trade. I'd prefer Nas.

Billups understood these 3 players right now will be playing for the Blazers so I assume there no buyout on any of them.

Knicks get completely out of the Randle deal and pick up a first.

We end up with a potential future lineup of Dame-Ant-Hart-Randle-Nurk

with Nance and Nas off the bench. Think that's a viable top 7 to make the playoffs next yr, and a lot more flexibility to still stay under the tax with extensions to Nurk/Ant.

I love Nas....when he plays. At this point I am not counting on him ever playing a full season healthy. He's going to miss games.
he's compared to Gerald Wallace for a reason. Crash was similarly injury prone early in his career. At his rookie scale salary, I don't see many better replacements for what he can bring.

Not advocating for trading him, but if you want to be a contender I don't think you can count on him. Have to have some insurance either as a backup or a fringe starter. (Not saying this is Grant)

I have been assured by a number of sauces that there were other deals on the table and many other discussions, almost all of which, fans would have thought were better deals.
WTF does that mean? What rational reason is there to take a worse deal? And that too, the very first move in your career?

With 6 days to go before the deadline? Makes very little sense if true. Can you elaborate?

better players cost more money. Flexibility.

How long before Dame run from the Grind?

If Grant can give us most or all of what Little does for a full season, it has to be considered. The Blazers will never reach their potential with a SF who's injured as much as he plays.

He likes that it opens up cap flexibility to give his dinosaur ass 3 years from now.

If he brings a title to Portland, I have much less of an issue spending that kind of money on a player at that age. If we still haven't won a conference finals game by then, as much as I love Dame, no way!
I've seen my Yankees overpay for ageing stars all of my life to no avail, and it just handcuffs the team.

Sports is a business and a rooting interest. How many athletic oriented PG’s have you seen carry a team as THE guy past the age of 32?

I’m all on board keeping Lillard. But he’ll be on the decline from here on out. He needs to be a 2nd option.

I know some people will consider me a hater or whatever. But it’s no hate at all. Lillard is the shit and great for our organization over the years. I just look at it as a Blazer fan first.

And if a team still covets Lillard enough to give us a young up and comer with a high star probability you got to pull the trigger.

that is a fictional trade. Any team who has an "up and comer with a high star probability" won't trade him

There is no second deal. This is the deal. The goal here is to clear cap space so we can get under the luxury tax this year and then resign Ant without going over the luxury tax. Mission accomplished.

Ant is going to get a payday to sit on the bench behind CJ? I don't buy it

I don't either. I think CJ's on the move, and there seems to be plenty of smoke of him going to the Pels for spare parts, which makes a lot more sense in the context of the Powell/RoCo trade.

How they expect to replenish talent on this team with what they seem to be doing is beyond me, but I'm not a GM or a magician.

My only thought to this is he is gonna be fully healthy and RESTED for the first time in years...

He's still got 3-4 years of his prime IMO
