lol, sorry no. Dude was a late lotto pick coming off an impressive rookie season as a 20 year old where he started 73 games and played all 82. Dude was much more of a sure thing then any of the picks.

There were 5 1sts in that trade. I don't care what season he came off of, that was a throw in.

I'm not sure what you're saying, but it wasn't the worst trade...that's nuts

* Warriors trade Robert Parish and Kevin McHale for Joe Barry Carroll
* Nets trade 3 unprotected 1st's (Tatum-Brown) for KG & Pierce
* Bucks trade Dirk Novitski for Robert Traylor
* 76ers trade Wilt for Jerry Chambers and Darrall Imhoff
* Sonics trade Scottie Pippen for Olden Polynice and a pick

when OKC traded PG13, he was 29 and a 6-time all-star, a five time all-NBA selection, and a 4-time all-defense selection. SGA wasn't a throw-in either. He was the 'young prospect teams like OKC demand, and, he was required salary filler added to Gallinari making it a legal trade

yeah, just about all these are judged from hindsight, but that's the critical test of time

5 1sts, an MVP, and possibly a championship. It is definitely one of the worst trades if not the worst. Paul George has done nothing since and they're in a championship series because of that trade. And say whatever you want, any time you have 5 1st round picks (unprecedented amount of 1st round picks in a trade since the rule change), the player is the throw in.

I think you're conflating perspectives. There is the OKC perspective and the LAC perspective. The result for LAC wasn't the "worst ever in NBA history"...that's nonsense. I listed 5 trades that were worse. The result for OKC was great for sure, but a large part of that was their draft acumen in 2022 when they took Jalen Williams at 12. The year before, when they took Tre Mann at 18, not much acumen

yeah, LAC gave up SGA and a washed Gallinari for PG13; that was really lopsided considering George's health. But, when PG13 was healthy he averaged 23-7-5 for the Clips in nearly 190 games; that's not nothing

But it wasn't some incredible multiple top-5 pick haul they gave away like Brooklyn did for KG/Pierce. The picks were #18 - #12 - #18 - #26, with the 2026 to be determined. So far only one lottery pick and that was the 12th pick. There is no guarantee at all that LAC would have taken Jalen William like OKC did; they could have taken Ochai Agbaji, AJ Griffin or Tari Eason. Certainly there was opportunity cost but that can be a really iffy calculation, especially for non-lottery picks

You're welcome to stand by your ridiculous take, no skin off my back. Dude was a lotto pick & then as a 20 year old had a great rookie year starting all year for a playoff team. Teams don't just throw in players like that.

We'd be PISSED as fans if we traded away 5 1st round picks for this:

Teams accumulate picks in hopes that one of them becomes the level of player Shai is. Dude is a Dame/Clyde/Bill level of all time franchise player.

Of course the Clipper fans are pissed about that trade, but they're hung not up on the picks. They traded away the next big thing and some sidekicks for an older broken down star.

Why keep digging away at this hole you're in?

I'm not digging a hole just because you disagree. If we gave up a player like Shai, 5 1st round picks, and got back broken down ass Paul George only for us to lose in the playoffs,

WE'd be pissed... Especially after seeing Shai win MVP. Bro what are you talking about right now?

I was responding to what you wrote & I quoted silly. Now you’re moving the goal posts. I certainly don’t disagree with the latest stuff

Would anyone trade Ayton for Collins and fillers? I always liked his grit.
He and Clingan could be one hell of a defensive duo.

not sure why or if SA would do it, but if we could bring him back at a reasonable price, id do it.

A guy like him and a knock down shooter or two and we would be really close to contending with the assumed/expected growth of our youth.

Pretty sure zach plays for the Bulls

Spurs would get fined for trading Zach since they already traded him to Chicago in February. Part of the LaVine/Fox trade IIRC

I doubt Chicago would have much interest in Ayton. They already have Vucevic on an expiring contract that's about 14M less than Ayton

but sure, if we're pipe-dreaming, a switch of C's: Ayton + Reath for Vucevic + Collins + Portland's pick back. Bulls would never do it but let's dream

Oh snap! Totally forgot about that. Lol.
Portland fans have to dream though. Dream and reminisce. Dream and reminisce.
