The dude has really proven more value than the contract we gave him. I am so fucking proud of him! This guy is looking more and more like a Pippen than a Prince.

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

dude is good shit, pretty rare to see someone in the nba breakout AFTER they get a big payday

if the blazers had the clippers bench they would have 30 wins right now

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

I thought this was an appreciation for our fellow poster, Nikol.. etc etc

The player is NiC

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

Best player on the team!

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

Jinx thread.

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

Batum's playing so well he's getting a role in The Office? That's fantabulous!

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

Ben Golliver ‏@blazersedge "[Turiaf] told me congrats on the triple-double [vs. the Wizards] and I said, 'I'll get one for your tonight, don't worry.'" -- Batum

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

Nico is a rare talent. ATM, he's the best player on the team.

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

It's nice to see him living up to his potential ... and playing for a coach who is going to let him try to reach it (even with the occasional bumps and bruises that come with growth)

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

If Batum was in the East he would be an All-Star this year.

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

NBA better invite him to the 3pt contest. He needs to be there that weekend.

Re: The office: Nik appreciation thread

Averaging 18/7/6 this month. Just ridiculous.

With a 5x5 game and two triple doubles, Batum is showing the league (and the doubters) what many here knew all along:

Nate was definitely holding him back.

He's worth every penny of that contract, and then some.

Props to those of you who were behind me during the whole summer contract situation. THose of you who realized you got to put up the bigtime money to keep your players. Those of you who didn't think my contract was to much. The rest of you can fuck off.

Well, "Nic" some of us have always known what a special player you are. You have been my youngest daughter's favorite player ever since the first time she saw you play. It was a preseason game against Utah prior to your rookie year. Nate sat Brandon, LaMarcus and Oden (that was his rookie year too, and everyone was excited to finally see him play). So, I was disappointed that I wouldn't get to see any of the "Big 3" play, But, you were a pleasant surprise. It was your first NBA start. You scored 12 points and blocked three shots, including AK47 twice. He was going at you because you were a rookie. You totally denied him and swatted his weak shit twice.

My daughter, 9-years old at the time, immediately knew you were a special player. Unfortunately, no one in the Blazers sales and marketing departments (and very few here on this board) knew as much about basketball as a little 9-year old schoolgirl. There were no Batum jerseys to be found anywhere. So, at the next home game we attended, I had them custom make an XS black Batum 88 jersey for her. She still wears that jersey to every Blazers game we attend. It fits her better now. It was more like a dress when she first got it. She was distraught at the prospect of you leaving last summer and so relieved when the Blazers resigned you. So, was I. She's a pretty smart kid and knows her hoops.

She does her hair with red and black bows, face paint, pom pons and brings signs to every game. She loves to get shown on the jumbotron during time outs and between quarters. Her personal record is 7 times in one game - take THAT dancing lady!
