I thought this would happen with the Lakers. They were playing well because they had decent chemistry.
Their starters are unathletic. Their best scorers are bench players in Henry, Young and Meeks. What happens when Nash and Farmar come back.....D'Antoni has his work cut out for him trying to mesh this all together. But they do have offensive fire power. But horrible D.

It would be a no brainer. I would just trade Meeks and young for Mo, Wright and Leonard.

Young is kind of a chucker, but dude is extremely difficult to guard. They have too many wings.

Would you do a trade for Blake/Young?

I don't think they'd give up Meeks, but I'm wondering if they would do Blake/Young. I think Blakey would be a nice backup point guard. I've always thought he'd be a nice backup. He can shoot, he can pass, he plays hard.

They have too many wings with Meeks, Young, and Henry. There's no way they can find enough minutes to make them all happy.

Seems like they run lineups with four of them on the court at once like the Nellie Warriors of a few years ago. It actually works.

Did the Lakers bring Kobe back to tank? They were winning half their games without him. Now after they lose a few games he'll start shooting 25 shots, kill their ball movement, and get them back in the race for Wiggins.

You guys haven't even mentioned their wing Wesley Johnson.

Rudy Gay heading to the Kings for John Salmons, Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes

Kings continue to make poor decisions

That'll be his end-of-season totals, except for the shooting %. Move the decimal over two places.

HCP's one of the biggest L*ker fans there is, and even he doesn't think K*be will shoot 9000% for the season. Sheesh.

yeah, it's an odd trade for the Kings. Might improve their starting 5, but it's not a smart trade.

He has a player option next year, so it's a huge expiring soon, I guess?

Gay puts up empty stats, IMO. Like Syracuse guys, I'd hate him on my team

I would be he's not opting out. 19 million is a LOT to pass over.

Especially for a guy who has had two teams give up on him and deal him for pennies on the dollar.

So a huge expiring next season at worst. Not that Sac is a prime destination for FA's, but maybe a lopsided deal?

No, they view Gay as a player that can help them. Before the deal they would’ve had the cap space this offseason which is much more valuable in a lopsided trade to another team. For example Utah was able to get two unprotected first round picks to take on one year of contracts.

I don’t get it, Sac got rid of some of their only players that can contribute without shooting. Horrible deal for the Kings, even with new owners they are proving to make terrible decisions. Giving Boogie a max contract and now trading for a massively overpaid ball stopper.

No way in HELL Gay doesn't pick up his option!!!!! He's not THAT stupid.

You're probably right, but I remember when we thought that about a thought-to-be-even-more-washed-up player who declined a 15M-ish option to sign a 4/40M deal.

And when I think of the name (or get the google machine to work), I'll post it. ;)

There were also some that thought Andre Igoudala would not opt out and quite a few (me included) that thought Monte Ellis would not.

Gerald Wallace did the same thing, iirc.

I knew about Crash's, but his was always a bit more of a guess b/c it was a) "only" about 10M, iirc and b) he wasn't "completely" washed up. He was probably going to get another contract.

Jefferson was already a waiver-wire type guy when he went to SAS, and had no other prospects for a contract other than SAS. He gave up 15M guaranteed and was laughed at. He then went and got 38M.

With that one, I always thought SA and Jefferson had an agreement in place beforehand. SA would have been over the luxury tax if he would not have opted out.

Exactly. But I was just commenting on HCP's point that there was NO WAY that Gay would opt out. I think we all would've opined (did opine?) similarly when we heard about RJ's opt-out.

And no, I didn't bring that up just as a RJ-Gay segue.

Report: Raptors look to trade Kyle Lowry next as firesale continues

Think of all the "Asik" trade parts, change out Mo for CJ, and trade for Lowry.
