GMs Calling 2017 NBA Draft 'Strongest In A Decade'

Fultz_Markelle_uw_161129.jpg

The 2017 NBA Draft will be the "strongest in a decade", according to multiple NBA scouts and general managers. Chad Ford projects 10-15 potential All-Stars in the class, headlined by Markelle Fultz.

Ford elevated Fultz up from No. 3 in his previous big board to No. 1, while Lonzo Ball jumped from No. 6 to No. 2.

Josh Jackson fell from No. 1 to No. 3 with Malik Monk and Dennis Smith rounding out the top-5. Monk was ranked No. 15 in the previous big board.

1. Markelle Fultz
2. Lonzo Ball
3. Josh Jackson
4. Malik Monk
5. Dennis Smith
6. Jayson Tatum
7. Harry Giles
8. Jonathan Isaac
9. De'Aaron Fox
10. Miles Bridges
11. Lauri Markkanen
12. Frank Ntilikina
13. OG Anunoby
14. T.J. Leaf
15. Robert Williams
16. Ivan Rabb
17. Terrance Ferguson
18. Edrice Adebayo
19. Jarrett Allen
20. Marques Bolden

Are any of them potential game changers?

I'm down. But, despite how rotten this team is, our end-of-season schedule is just too easy for us to miss the POs. At some point these guys will start playing basketball, and at the end of the season they'll cruise into the 7th seed. Yes, I know we just lost to the worst team in the league.

There's a guy named Austin Wiley that just joined Auburn. 6-11 and 255. He is damn good, but he won't be available to draft until 2018 since he's in college early. We need to tank next season and target him.

We should tank every yeard for the next 12-15 years. that will get us a roster of 12-15 lotto picks. and still suck...

Sure.

Lets tank for every potential player entering college for the rest of the franchise's future.
Got anyone for the 2019 draft we should tank for? ;)

Last night's game was arguably the "easiest" one left on the schedule, and we all saw how that played out.

So you're in favor of being a perpetual 8 seed. (best case scenario)

Well, I would rather be an 8 seed than what PHI has been the last 5 years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm HALF on your side, but you have never said anything OTHER than tanking, so I'm poking you a bit.
A lotto pick in this next draft would probably help us, but i am not into looking towards the long term future of this team and use future drafts to improve it. If we do that we better just blow it all up now and trade BOTH dame and CJ.
Otherwise looking into the 2018-19-20's draft classes are not serious answers on how to improve this current team.

In most years, the first pick in the draft is by consensus. So I don't think there's anything to say in this thread. Our choice will be obvious by draft day. Maybe it won't be, and it'll be Toot Once and Toot Twice again.

Love TJ Leaf's old school game. Great instincts and not a slouch athletically. I'd be happy with him at the end of the lottery and I'd take him over Markennen and Rabb.

And if Ike Anigbogou comes out, he has a great chance to be the best defensive center in this draft.

Another guy I'm liking is Frank Ntilkina. Love his fit with Dame and CJ as a guy that can be a playmaker and hit a 3 while defending the tougher perimeter matchup.

I want 13
for nothing more than the name

Markkanen has moved to 11 aready?

There will be a lot of talented power forwards in the 11-20 range I think. Even in 25-30 with Cleveland pick we should be able to find decent talent. Tanking could probably get us Markkanen or Giles from that list. How good is Giles BTW?

76ers must be rubbing their hands at the possibility of drafting one of these highly rated point guards AND possibly another backcourt player with Lakers pick.

My comparisons for the lottery:

1. Markelle Fultz - C.J. McCollum
2. Lonzo Ball - Emmanuel Mudiay
3. Josh Jackson - Jimmy Butler
4. Malik Monk - Eric Bledsoe
5. Dennis Smith - Damian Lillard
6. Jayson Tatum - Nicolas Batum
7. Harry Giles - Blake Griffin
8. Jonathan Isaac - Kevin Durant
9. De'Aaron Fox - Dennis Schroder
10. Miles Bridges - Wilson Chandler
11. Lauri Markkanen - Nikola Mirotic
12. Frank Ntilikina - Ricky Rubio
13. OG Anunoby - Maurice Harkless
14. T.J. Leaf - Dario Saric

Giles is a beast, and would be top 3 if not for injuries. He's torn ACLs in both his knees I believe. Who knows if he can stay healthy.

I would also add, that it is pretty bad ass of boston to be a, on the higher side playoff team and still get a number 1 pick. doesn't seem like that's something that happens much.
