He has a player option for 31 mil. He can exercise that and rehab on their dime all next year then hit free agency in 2020.
That’s best case scenario for every team in the NBA (except those with cap space that wanted to sign him) — tie up $30M+, discouraging GSW from making any big moves. FUCK THE WARRIORS —their dynasty needs to end. No time like the present!

Anyone Blaming Nurse for it?

Not sure who to blame but obviously the Blazers are not the only team to make that stupid decision. It drives me crazy when players/teams take their time in the closing seconds only to end up taking a hurried 3 pt shot by the wrong player. It is one thing if the game is tied but not when you are down 1 fucking point. Kawhi was absolutely spectacular ....again, but what was he thinking with only 8 seconds left? He surveys the court court until they double team him? It happens time and time again from various teams. Run a freaking play. Attack the basket.

On a side note how about the offensive foul cal on Boogie in crunch time. That pick could have been called a foul 30 other times during the game and wasn't. So much for the conspiracy theory about the NBA wanting game 7's. They gave Toronto every opportunity to close it out in 5. They just didn't take advantage.

Let's not forget, dude is turning 31. May not play until he's 32. He might be a spot up shooter ala Laker-era Glen Rice after this injury.

The Warriors would file for a Disabled Player exception and get to acquire a FA for up to the non-taxpayer MLE. Probably Rodney Hood. Argh!

They would already be paying like 175 mil in tax. Anyone they add would really hurt the bottom line.

Swish3 shooting (60 points on 20 of 42 shooting by GSW vs 8 of 32 by TOR) left a 36 point TOR swish3 deficit and won Game 5. Kawhi got TOR the lead, but the clutch swish3 scores by Steph and Klay in the final mins were the deciding factor. And this is how we can beat GSW and TOR in the Playoffs next year with shots made by Blazers who can shoot >50% (or in WCF Game 4 first half 83.3%) of the attempts. We can win the 3 point game contest. With a game plan to score 60 (or at least 45) per game on 3PA next year, we can win the Championship!

But we can only do that by playing Meyers 30+ minutes every game and asking him to take at least 1 swish3 per 2 possessions.

Not just their ticket prices but they now have a new stadium with even higher ticket prices and more seats.

No, KD risked it. No player of his stature does ANYTHING they don’t want to. HE wanted back.
I agree with this. When he was jawing with Vanvleet out there he didn't look like he was being forced to play. Also by the reaction on twitter by players it was pretty unanimous that he was doing that of his own accord.

At his rate of execution his swish3 shooting would put them over the top and the Blazers would be Champions!

Agreed as well! The only shady thing possible could have been if the doctors were not truthful about the risk of playing. I doubt that happened here though. It sounds like they had multiple doctors and the team definitely wouldn't want to sabotage KD.

That was an obvious moving screen on Boogie. They had to call it.

If they called that consistently, Looney would have fouled out of every game in our series. It was egregiously bad to call that at THAT moment.

Refs also missed an obvious hit on Klay's elbow, and the Kawhi travel.

Calls went decidedly Toronto's way. It seemed like the refs had taken the 17-1 odds on them to win in 5.

I disagree. You have to call that on Boogie.

No calls went decidely the Warriors way for most of the second half. There were a couple late calls against the Warriors, but they were obvious. Yeah Kawhi traveled, but the Warriors got away with one just before that...of course they committed a travelling violation a second time in their possession and were called for it. Boogie committed that foul right in front of the ref. It was very obvious.

I watched like 3 minutes of the 4th quarter so I can't say much, but it's not very often that a team has almost double the FTA's and people are saying the refs favored the other team. I realize that's not always a great "gauge" on officiating.

BTW, I think ABC/ESPN is an absolute shitshow. From the production quality, the lack of decent analysis, how they miss the most obvious points to make, the shitty announcers, etc etc. And 720p broadcast???? It looks horrific. I miss TNT. I also hate Mike Breen's voice.

They are ruining this experience for me. It needs an overhaul and start with removing Mark Jackson out of booth.

Whenever I see a post like this that I disagree with, (cos I really enjoy their broadcasts and VanGundy, & Jackson&Breen with DB) my first reaction is.. .Examples?
Specific examples.
What specifically are the "obvious" points they are not making.
I'm with ya as far as ESPN's Monday Night Football crew goes, because Booker MacWhatever and his screaming monotone delivery, but their NBA crew is solid.
TNT?..Kevin McHale...remember how much we all loved him?.

We ended up with the JV2 TNT crew. Kevin Harlan needs to be the voice of the NBA.

I've never liked Kevin Harlan. He's cheesy over-the-top in his announcing style. I like Jeff Van Gundy, but the other two are extremely replaceable--Breen is nothing special and Mark Jackson is awful.

I wish the Big Red Head was working with Van Gundy! Either one....

I know this might be off topic but I want to hear opinions on this.
The guy mentioned in the report doesn't play, so regular people/fans don't even know his name. But the guys signing the checks (AKA owners) surely know who he is. If Olshey didn't sign an extension would you have been willing to fire him to hire this guy? Shouldn't the Lakers have signed him instead of the overrated MJ? Wouldn't Michael Jordan pay this dude to save his crappy Hornets?
Who doesn't want a guy who has turn Canada into a crazy place? Every owner just dream of what the Raptors look like right now. EVERY OWNER ...
And when you are a pathetic franchise like the Wizard ... desperate for headlines ... why wouldn't you do this?
The Raptors GM will NEVER beg for a job again in his whole life ... aka Ujuri is now a better name than Colangelos ... Does he have kids?
