The only way Milwaukee would have significant cap space this summer is if they let both Middleton and Brogdon leave for nothing. That doesn't seem like a smart strategy. There aren't any realistic options in free agency better than those two that would sign in Milwaukee.
Is next summer when they got get the brinx truck out for Giannis?

Basketball season is over and this has absolutely been a very entertaining season. We got a champion that has never been the champ before. That alone kind of makes it special.
Lets hope the Blazers can keep some key pieces and dabble in the market enough to make the team a little better again. Seems like slow and steady is winning the race. I just do not see anything else happening.
There will be no Anthony Davis in a Blazer uniform. But there might be some changes that can shore up the woeful shooting and ball handling that has been around Lillard. Nurks return timeline has not changed. I know there is some video of him doing low to no impact workouts and it's great to see him staying in shape but a double compound fracture is still what it is. There will be pain. There will be extensive rehabilitation. Good days and bad. I personally do not see Jusuf Nurkic being the same player next year. IMO he will be 18 months or the beginning of the 2020-21 season before we see a full 100% Nurkic. That to me means the Blazers absolutely must find a way to keep Kanter if at all possible or find a reasonable replacement. They will also need to try and keep Meyers Leonard so all those trade scenarios throwing in Meyers like an afterthought seem silly to me.
Turner will be in a Blazer uniform next year at least to start the season. But i don't expect anything to happen until Feb and it will happen with a team that is looking to move salary.
That means the players the Blazers have to work on still remain the same two problems they have had now for 2-3 years. Aminu and Harkless.
The Blazers desperately need a player that can make a shot and play some defense. Of course all teams need this. So i guess we will see right?
As far as a player that might make a difference for the Blazers goes? I personally would be looking outside of the country to the Euroleague and Euro cup. They are not gonna get Doumbouya but there are a couple others That could not only help the Blazers but help them immediately. The Blazers need players that are on rookie contracts that can produce this next year. Amine Noua might be worth a look. A little older 3 and D player. Vanja Marinkovic might also be worth a look. This guy shoots lights out and plays defense. All around player that could very well work well in the Blazers system.

That is two euro's that can play the game and would be available most likely in the second round. Blazers would have to get a pick somehow? They are not the only players like this out there. My thinking is while trying to go big (Anthony Davis). They should also be looking at players on the cheap that could be diamonds in the rough? Blazers desperately need to hit on a real lucky pick up. Is there a Manu Ginobili out there? You never know?

The Raptors just won the championship after firing their coach and trading for Kawhi. How is it that "slow and steady is winning the race"?

The Raptors fired their coach and traded for a top 2 player in the world. How in the hell is that slow and steady?

Well they made the playoffs 8 years before this year without any playoff success so I get where he is coming from. They did not exactly blow it up and start over.
They were in the proverbial basketball purgatory that so many of you like to talk about. They slowly built a deep team and waited for the right time to invest half of it on 3 vets.
1) Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Miles and a 2024 second-round draft pick for Gasol
2) Demar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round pick for Leonard and Green

It was a slow and steady process until the 9th year with
No high draft picks

But yes give them credit on pulling the trigger at the right time. But you need to build the depth up first.
As for the coach change who knows how much of a factor it was. Time will tell on that one.

Props to the Raps for picking up Siakum with the #27 pick and an undrafted Vanvleet (I'm not even going to mention OG Anunoby).

The coach change was huge IMHO. Nurse had the guys hound Curry in a way that I don't think Casey ever would have. I hope Stotts and his staff are paying attention.

Good argument for not blowing up a team and going young to get high draft picks. There seems to be players out there almost every year late in the 1st, or in the 2nd or who go un-drafted that can be A missing piece. Denver did it with Jokic, GS did it with Draymond. You still need to have a Kawhi though to pull it off, but trading half your team does nothing unless you have lots of pieces left after you do

Nice response it actually really makes a bunch of sense.

But as usual certain posters don't seem to be able to stay with a post that is longer than one line or a couple of sentences.

It's pretty clear i am talking about the Blazers. Incremental steps that are getting the Blazers better.

Then i follow that with some talk about Davis and my feelings about him ever playing for the Blazers.
Then i talk about who the Blazers probably should look to re-sign because of the Nurkic injury.
Then i follow that with Turner.
Then i follow that with a couple euro's the Blazers should look at.

Nothing about that post was talking about how the Raptors got to where they are.

The Raptors would never have beaten the Warriors at full strength.
But i don't believe in (*) type things on championships. They won the championship. In the end that is all that mattered.

Masai looked like he was ready to fight him.

Also Bobby Webster is our GM, Ujiri is the President.
Either way, everybody knows Ujiri runs the Raptors. And after all the hard work and risk taking he did to build this team; I think when they are celebrating reaching the pinnacle of sports, that he deserves to be out there celebrating with the team.

At least one witness is saying Ujiri had his pass and the deputy shoved him.

Way to devalue the hell out of CJ. I want to see the list of 25-29 players you think are better than him..
  • harden
  • Giannis
  • lebron
  • anthony davis
  • steph curry
  • kevin durant
  • klay thompson
  • kawhi leonard
  • damian lillard
  • jokic
  • paul george
  • russell westbrook
  • joel embiid
  • kyrie irving
  • bradley beal
  • karl anthony towns
  • blake griffin
  • jusuf nurkic
  • jimmy butlergiannis
That's off the top of my head after that he's in a group I guess, there's probably some I missed.
edit also no particular order.

Not in order, just going off top.

1. Lebron
2. Greek freak
3. Durant
4. Curry
5. Klay
6. Lillard
7. Harden
8. Paul
9. Kyrie
10. Jokic
11. Nurkic
12. AD
13. George
14. Westbrook
15. Embiid
16. Butler
17. Draymond
18. Wall
19. Beal
20. KAT
21. Griffin
22. Kawhi
23. Booker
24. Simmons
25. Draymond
26. Gobert
27. Aldridge
28. Derozen
29. Kemba
30. Jrue

CJ is probably in the 30 range.

Most definitely. However, it's also his responsibility to make sure he has his credentials on him. You can't expect a security guard to know Ujiri from Joe Smoe.

At least one witness is saying Ujiri had his pass and the deputy shoved him.
If that is in fact the case, it changes the situation.

29. Kemba

CJ is probably in the 30 range.

Take Booker, Gobert, Derozen off the list IMO. I'd even take Simmons off. He's not better than CJ yet. Kemba? Not better than CJ IMO either. Aldridge? I'm biased but not him either.

This bullshit... Seriously... If he doesn't know who the fuck Ujiri is he's stupid and maybe should be fired.

Regardless if he had his credentials or not, there's no reason to put your hands on people.

I'm TIRED of MFs giving police and security guards cover for FUCKING UP.

Kemba's stats are closer to Dame's than CJ's are to Kemba. He absolutely is a better player than McCollum. Same with Derozan and Booker. Gobert was an all NBA player and consistent DPOY candidate.
