I’m trying to figure out why nobody would pay more than we did. Sounds like he has a lot of games where he disappears. The highlights show amazing potential though. Poor mans Doncic?

highlights are just that. He's played 277 games and over 5200 minutes. He's started 65 games. It would be easy to compile a great 5 minute video of his better plays. You could do the same for Meyers

that doesn't man the highlight video represents his median play. I don't have a real clue how good, or bad, this guy is. How inconsistent he is or how good he is on defense. But his sample size is big enough, and his minutes consistent enough, that if his upside was accurately conveyed by a highlight video, he would likely be getting more than the minimum. And he was a 5th pick so it's not like teams haven't been watching him

Its not only the Lakers that Kawhi could screw. His waiting will cost Toronto the ability to sign quality players to replace him should he leave. The Clippers could get screwed too, though thry resigned everyone and got Harkless so they haven't been totally sitting around.

What I love about the pdx moves are that they let go or got rid of every player I didn’t want here and replaced them with better players still all on 1 year deals(Baze, Tolliver, Whitehead, Mario). My dream now, even though I currently hate him, is that Nurk comes back strong and with money from Baze and Whitehead expiring we snag...wait for it...Draymond Green in FA. He’s arguably the best UFA in a very weak FA class next year. I still say he loves Dame and they are buddies, he always has positive things to say about lillard and he’s one of the few opponents I’ve ever seen him pick up off the floor(yeah I’m looking real deep I know)

Nurk/Skal
Green/Collins
Hood/Little
CJ/Trent
Dame/Simons

Starting next years FA period with those 10 under contract would make me very happy.

Think Neil would do Nurks agent a favor and sign Boogie to a minimum? They have the same agent and if there’s really zero interest maybe he has to settle for a 1 year min? Might be good insurance for Nurk.

I was interested in the idea before we got whiteside. Now, not so much. I don’t think he’d be interested in a reserve role anyway.

Thing is he doesn't need Lebron and Davis. He has proven this. The Clippers I would understand. He goes back to LA to play for a hometeam where its his team. Toronto would be his team. Lakers would not be.
But maybe he didn't like the pressure of Toronto being his team? I guess we'll find out.

Ha I wrote those exact words, but deleted them because I didn't have time to explain myself to everyone who thought I was embellishing. But that is exactly what I was thinking. Same area of the world, same size , same hype coming in to the NBA. Obviously not as special of a player, but you can't help but not see some similarities.

I don’t even care if Kawhi goes to LAL, a big3 of all front court players has never been done. With those 3, Kuzma, and 9 minimum guys they better pray that a 35 year old lebron, an injury prone AD, and a Kawhi who wants a work load cap can all put up big minutes this season. Yeah I know the Free throw line will get them 50 wins anyway.

it might be easy to misread the free agent situation right now

Most of the league-wide cap-space is gone, But there is still somewhere around 70-80 million in cap-space between the two LA teams. If Kawhi chooses either of the LA teams, the other will start signing lesser free agents. If Kawhi returns to Toronto both of those LA teams will be in a mad cramble to fill out their rosters

so right now, there might be Kawhi constipation in that a lot of free agents who might be headed for a vet minimum or a lower exception might be waiting to see if they can increase their next deal based upon Kawhi. I'd certainly think Somebody like Cousins could anticipate some interest from one of the LA teams

The more video I watch the more I can't believe we got him for so cheap. He literally can play 4 positions. Knew he could shoot but surprised by his defense and ball handling.

Looking at his numbers, Hezonja shoots well/OK every other year. the other years he stinks badly at shooting. This upcoming season should be a good shooting year if the cycle holds.

.513 , .420 , .523 ,and .478 (last season) are his eFG% for his 4 NBA seasons. .420 is horrific.

Clippers don’t have to do anything if he doesn’t sign. They roll back the team and do the best they can. They have a decent group with great chemistry and it’s not like they will be competing for a title regardless who they sign if they strike out on Kawhi. Jerry West is too clever to allow them to waste money.

Is that Kawhi under the hoodie?

The fact that Hezonja took a minimum deal hours after FA opened tells me he wanted to be in Portland specifically. If he was looking to rebuild his value, he probably ignored the money and found the best possible situation to do that.

Not to compare them at all...but Dame is a career .434 shooter. A lot depends on context. Hopefully, playing off of Dame/CJ or at the very least, a better bench, will get him better looks in a more comfortable environment and allow him to blossom.

I am using Effective Field Goal Percentage. regular old field goal percentage is meaningless for guys who take a lot of threes. (for your 3-point MAKES, you get 1.5 that number, since 3 is 1.5 of 2. You get credit for the extra point).

Lillard has a career .510 eFG% and has only barely gone below .500 once in his career (.497). Last season was a career high .522 eFG% for Lillard.

.420 is a horrific number for effective field goal percentage. To get that, Hezonja shot .299 on 144 three-pointers and .398 on 186 two-pointers.

My sources say once Kawhi picks Toronto and Iggy gets bought out that Boogie and Iggy are going to LAL. Still have zero backcourt.

Good point. I wonder if he got promised at least the backup SF spot?
